One of the first things Trump did is fire his. No wonder.Ethics counsels from the Clinton, George W. Bush and Obama White Houses weigh in.
I think they knew he'd be a self serving asshole, do you think they had any idea it would go this far?People wanted this when they voted him in. This was all well known about him.
How you going to feel when Congress approves the billion dollars to retrofit it and then decommisions it after a year or so of use?I care a lot less about a gift to the country of an airplane than I do about the billions upon billions of dollars wasted by the frivolous spending of Congress. Want to do something useful, cut the waste, fraud and abuse in our spending. Get those who do not qualify for government programs off those programs. Doing so would allow us to save money while providing more aid for those that truly do qualify.
Do you care about the millions it will take to properly disassemble the plane, to make sure it is safe and not bugged, then put it back together? All for what?I care a lot less about a gift to the country of an airplane than I do about the billions upon billions of dollars wasted by the frivolous spending of Congress. He is just blatantly violating all sorts of ethics standards. MAGAs don't care.Ethics counsels from the Clinton, George W. Bush and Obama White Houses weigh in.
As lawyers responsible in recent White Houses for enforcing the rules against foreign government presents for presidents, we believe Donald Trump is transgressing them in the most brazen of ways. We’re not just talking about his apparent eagerness to accept an airplane valued at about $400 million from Qatar. His crypto entanglements are just as bad — perhaps even worse.
Opinion | A Plane From Qatar? C’mon, Man.
Sure, everyone likes gifts. But presidents have to refuse them most of the time.www.nytimes.com
We'd also have to pay a bunch to upgrade it to contain some of the tech that Air Force 1 has, it can't be fully ruggedized but we would still have to pay to upgrade it with what can be done.Do you care about the millions it will take to properly disassemble the plane, to make sure it is safe and not bugged, then put it back together? Trump's "big beautiful bill" would add trillions to the debt.I care a lot less about a gift to the country of an airplane than I do about the billions upon billions of dollars wasted by the frivolous spending of Congress. Yeah, I was probably underestimating at "millions".We'd also have to pay a bunch to upgrade it to contain some of the tech that Air Force 1 has, it can't be fully ruggedized but we would still have to pay to upgrade it with what can be done.

They won't be able to retrofit it for use as AF1 in 3 years. And it'll cost a lot more than $1 billion. How you going to feel when Congress approves the billion dollars to retrofit it and then decommisions it after a year or so of use?
the waste, fraud and abuse in our spending.
I don't think that they will. There's too much risk in letting him fly around in that gaudy thing. They'll send some last guy in the room to talk him out of it.It never will be if the DoD et al demand the standards they have historically. However , I think it entirely possible they will abandon those standards in deference to his ego.

"Who cares if Trump is breaking the law as long as he raises the National Debt by $4T with his tax cuts for the rich!"I care a lot less about a gift to the country of an airplane than I do about the billions upon billions of dollars wasted by the frivolous spending of Congress.
