That is exactly what happened, no matter how obtusely you read a weak ESPN narrative attempt to make an obvious and undisputed debacle palatable.
The facts:
- Wallace was not targeted. The so-called "noose" was fashioned 8 or more months before he was assigned the garage bay.
- The "noose" was not likely that of a classic hangman's noose, it was (by all appearances) one of the basic knots, loops, and slip knots taught to boy scouts, boaters, climbers, truckers and others used as gripping for hands and objects.
- More importantly there is no evidence it was used for any other purpose than a hand sized pull, and accordingly was attached to the pull down door (that should have given the alarmists a hint, ya think?).
- There is no evidence that some unknown "anti-racist" makes door hand loops just to provoke an unknown black person some 8 months hence.
- There is no evidence that NASCAR or Wallace had the slightest good sense to even look (let alone use) the hand sized pull before leaping to hysterical conclusions, and approaching the media to start a circus and new false national outpouring of gushing tears over Bubba Wallace being the victim of some bodyman inspired racial threat.
Now, I imagine that you see some kind of small "loophole" (pun intended) in the FBI's insistent use of the term "noose" or that "for some reason" this garage had one unlike other garages. Dropping unstated nefarious and conspiratorial hints known only to you - something that neither the FBI, NASCAR, or you are willing to openly assert as a theory (most likely because it would only make them more foolish). So there is no need to explain two irrelevancies that don't change the fact that Wallace, NASCAR, and the rest of their supporters made false assumptions and look like gullible idiots.
So instead of imagining sinister and profane intent into utility knots and loops used as an an everyday garage pull, I suggest you get a "grip" (pun not intended) - begin by:
