2006 - 88 Soldiers killed
2007 - 111 Soldiers killed
2008 - 153 Soldiers killed

2018 - 15 Soldiers killed
2019 - 22 Soldiers killed
2020 - 9 Soldiers killed
2021 - 13 Soldiers killed
Total - 2342 Soldiers killed

.5% of all soldiers were killed in Afghanistan under Bidens watch. If the trend had continued until 2024 ( 13 soldiers killed each year, then it would be 42/2381 (or 2342+13+13+13), which would be 1.7% of soldiers.

If we look at numbers since the war lost its legitimacy (after 2011, when we got OBL) then Biden is responsible for 1.3% of soldiers killed (13/999).

The deaths of 13 soldiers is tragic, but the deaths of 999 soldiers (since OBL was killed and we have no reason to be in Afghanistan) is many times more so.

I wonder how many civilians in the US will be killed by terrorists because of Biden's failures.

Apropos of which, we've got flutes in the freezer, and bubbly on ice. The plan is to toast the end of the 20 year war, and the fact that NO MORE US MILITARY PERSONNEL will be expected to give up their lives for Afghanistan. That war is finally behind us, and good riddance!!

Thank you President Biden!

Here's a little different "perspective:"

During the September 11 attacks in 2001, 2,977 people were killed, 19 hijackers committed murder–suicide, and more than 6,000 others were injured.....
.... after which we responded by rightfully invading Saudi Arabia, occupying Mecca and Medina, and hired Haliburton to set up fast food joints and Starbucks right on site - just in time for The Hadj.

And we all lived happily ever after!!

(Then Mambo woke up and realized it was all just a dream.)

Proof that you can win the war on terror.

I think he would have had the restraint to go into Iraq for no reason

we would have been better off on that front
Water under the bridge, my friend.

What else should Biden have done in Afghanistan?

Do you have any of your one-liners to explain how we could fix Afghanistan, after 20 yrs?

The MSM has blamed Biden for pulling out of an endless war. History will vindicate him.

Let me help you.

The right, their media outlets and talking points, do not care about soldiers killed. They care about soldiers killed on someone else‘s watch.

Think “fiscal responsibility” or deficits and debt, it only matters when they are in the minority position.

Same thing, no Republican today cares about those 13 who died. They care about it happening on Biden’s watch.

Well certainly none of them gave a damn about the 60+ that died on Trump's watch. As far as the right-wingnut media outlets knew, those service personnel didn't even exist. The only one who actually cared about them was Joe Biden, and now he's done something about it.

All Biden actually did was carry out the Trump negotiated withdrawal, which I believe was originally supposed to have been accomplished by May 1st, but in April Biden extended to August to have time to accomplish it, though I've been unable to find any data showing the number of persons evacuated daily during the months of May, June, and July, only to find numbers beginning on August 15th. IMO, the only persons left to be evacuated beginning August 15th should have been the military personnel who were sent to accomplish the task.

MISSION ALMOST ACCOMPLISHED

Perhaps the Taliban will deport the remaining Americans?
