Last night in the debate Hillary chided Bernie for not releasing his tax forms. She was right to do that. Reportedly Sanders makes less in a year than Hillary makes in one speech. We shall soon see when we see Sander's taxes. In the meantime here is a list - compiled by the Weekly Standard - of Hillary's speeches, who she addressed and how much she was paid.

Anyone who doesn't believed that Hillary is owned by corporate interests is lying or stupid. A lot.

According to Huffington Post,...

"Two Canadian banks tightly connected to promoting the controversial Keystone XL pipeline in the United States either fully or partially paid for eight speeches made by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the period not long before she announced her campaign for president. Those speeches put more than $1.6 million in the Democratic candidate’s pocket."

All of the speeches were in Canada, so a complaint of affecting the US elections is weak to say the least.

Having said that it appears she can afford to buy the presidency. As a Canadian I am insulted that these banks would pay an American to tell us how to live, and I canm guarantee I will not be doing business with either

To me it seems quite obvious that someone like Hillary is not going to change the system that is destroying American democracy, the Middle Class and the financial futures of most Americans. She cannot change that system. She is a major player in that system.

A 75-year-old self-declared socialist looks like the best candidate from either side.
Not a good year to have the first-overall draft pick.

Over 21 million in under 2 years. Just for speaking. What lengths would the average human being go to to maintain that opportunity? What lengths would the average politician go to? What lengths would Shillary go to?

Every time she says she's for finance reform I think this, the OP is fairly strong evidence towards it being true.

Love the humor...................but Bernie being the best? I can imagine that a turd from the pipe drains of the Ritz Calton, tasting the same as a local tavern.

Wasn't it the money to be made on the speechifying circuit that prompted the previous Governor of Alaska to bail on her office?-
I'm guessing that very few politicians have it in them to resist anything in the way of money and power.

A colourful analogy. Who's worth voting for? I don't mean who's the least bad, who's good?

Damn, here in Canada we just elected possibly the most inexperienced, most naive, most vulnerable leader in the free world but I wouldn't trade him for any of that lot you guys have to chose from this time around.

Finding a acorn from Pierre's tree isn't exactly a great fine either? ;)

I follow Canada fairly close. All my Family are from NFLD , PEI, and Nova Scotia. I am first generation state side.

It was our version of the best available. If you know Canadian politics, you probably know Steven Harper. Would he make a good Republican nominee?
On second thought, he might be a Democratic nominee. Either way...

This so called election campaign is so making Trudeau look scholarly, composed, and confident.

That depends on who you talk to, and what your leaning is. To some he is the horror of communism who is destroying the country, to others he is the saviour we have been seeking.

I will say this, and I was a political watcher when his dad was justice minister, I have not seen a shift in general attitudes the likes of which I have witnessed since October. The Liberals are sometimes referred to as the "Natural Governing Party" and it seems to be somewhat true. There is a sense of "ah..", like we have returned to natural form, as his dad once uttered "the universe is unfolding as it should". Nor have I seen as long a honeymoon for a PM, this kid can do no wrong. He forecast a $10 billion deficit the first year, then ponied up with a $30 billion deficit in the first year and Canadians either yawned and went on texting or cheered.

There is a spirit of celebration here today as two of Harper's get tough on crime measures got struck down in the lower court, there will be no appeal. Right now if it isn't Harper nor the NDP, who last weekend fired their leader, you're gold.

Eeeoooow....

Can you imagine what American talk show hosts would do with him shaking his son's hand dropping him off at elementary school? It's bad enough they keep playing his famous quote "Marijuana is dangerous, more dangerous than cigarettes".

But, you know, I see him as a very nice antidote to Trump. Too bad he wasn't born in the USA, we could pawn him off on them.

Hillary supporters are in denial, don't care she is corrupt, or both.

Much as I disliked him for his cavalier attitude to parliamentary democracy, much as I distrust anyone with those fundamentalist religious views, much as he presented stony and cold and inapproachable, he would be my choice if he and I were Americans. Given the choices this cycle, I mean.
Ever since television presentation was the difference between Nixon and Kennedy the situation has gone downhill. I don't know what your opinion of Chretien was (personally, I mostly approved of him) but, a homely little guy with a facial paralysis, he could never have been elected in the US.

Everyone in the USA who thinks there's a good Presidentail candidate in this circus is in denial.

Is there a candidate you support because he's right, or are you holding your nose and voting for the least bad?

I don't believe Hillary is owned by corporate interests. The speaking circuit is lucrative it doesn't make you a slave to the companies you speak to. The people who believe that are replacing logic with blind cynicism.

Even worse is the green-eyed envy. Hillary does not need to promise anything to get those engagements and has said so many times. If anything it is a warning about those entities who have so much money to burn just to have a celebrity like Hillary come and talk to them. And anyone who thinks they would rather have Hillary than ANY Republican as President is kidding themselves. I like this take on the whole affair....

If Clinton was really being forthright about the speeches, here’s what she’d say:

You want to know why they paid me hundreds of thousands of dollars to give a speech? It’s because I’m famous and important, and the people who have that kind of money like to brush up against famous and important people. The executives want to get their picture taken chatting with me so they can put it up on their “brag wall.” They want to tell their buddies on the golf course, “Well here’s what I told Hillary Clinton …” It feeds their egos. And the money? Yeah, it’s hard to turn down that kind of money. So I go, I talk for an hour about the complex challenges America faces in an ever-changing world, blah blah blah, do the grip-and-grin and get a six-figure check. You would too, if you could.

I knew him as a reporter in the early 70's when he was minister of public works, or as we called him the Liberals' Quebec bag man. You are right, he would never have made congress. I also agreed, mostly with Chretien, and looking back tightening this country's banking regs when the US was going the other way was in hindsight brilliant. I doubt there is a politician who worked harder for Canada.

I actually voted for and worked for Harper's conservatives the first two minority governments. It was when he went ideological on us that we parted company. Oddly, they have been calling me rather routinely since the election, I think they're broke.

I also, given the choices on the current list would go with Harper as president. But then his lack of rock star status would kill him, he would be like the other Paul who was completely ignored by the media.
