Celebrities and influencers have often been criticized for performing in the country or participating in tourism campaigns, and FIFA drew condemnation last year for selecting Saudi Arabia to host the 2034 World Cup.

People once held a golf tournament there. You've never heard of them because they have all been canceled. In 5 years from now these assholes will be the same.

Donald was cancelled?

Why did you cancel him?

Oh the irony:

One comedian, Atsuko Okatsuka, posted screenshots to Threads of what she said was her invite to the festival, including a section on “Content Restrictions” that prohibited the artists from performing material that “may be considered to degrade, defame, or bring into public disrepute, contempt, scandal, embarrassment, or ridicule” the country, its royal family or any religion.

“A lot of the ‘you can’t say anything anymore!’ Comedians are doing the festival ” Okatsuka wrote. “they had to adhere to censorship rules about the types of jokes they can make.”

Dave Chappell was the first comedian on the list in the OP.

Prepare to laugh? Allah Forbid!

"Allah did not create man so that he could have fun. The aim of creation was for mankind to be put to the test through hardship and prayer. An Islamic regime must be serious in every field. There are no jokes in Islam. There is no humor in Islam. There is no fun in Islam. There can be no fun and joy in whatever is serious." - Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini

Because he's a dumb dumb.

What do you like about him?
I like how he encourages his followers to remove themselves from the gene pool.

I also like when he insults his followers -- like the time he told them that 98% of them suffer from cognitive damage -- and they thank him for it.

Finally I absolutely loved when he forced RFK to ingest highly processed foods and toxins in front of cameras before the entire planet, just to humiliate him.

Money talks. Car racing, golf, cycling. The kingdom likes western money and will also spend to seem modern. They also have a yuge soverign wealth fund which invests in companies inside and outside the kingdom.

To be fair to the sell out A-List comedians, it's hard sometimes to keep track of which brutal Islamic regimes you're supposed to support and which ones are forbidden.

To be fair to the A-List of Trump apologists, you're not on it.

Hopefully at least one will break the contract and show them what free speech can do ... but I'm not very hopeful

LOL. Yay!! It's only the delusional left who keeps trying to put me on it.

Bonus points for trying to make this thread about Trump!

Hardly a stretch. The dynamics are little different to boycotting or choosing to play at Trump's Kennedy Center.

The only one who gets a pass is Omid Djalili because his family are Iranian, so there may well be more at stake for him than just the fat pay cheque.
