ICE routinely messes up, then hides the evidence and openly lies to the public. In this case, an R-2 visa holder - still valid* - was seeking a student visa. She was detained by ICE because they don't know the process and keep shitty records, and sent to a commercially-operated for-profit concentration camp in Louisiana for "expedited removal". Then they lied about her visa having expired.

This is routine, now. ICE messes up, then they lie to cover their error. It's embarrassing and Un-American.

Combined with the fact that ICE is openly racially profiling.

They are the Trump Gestapo.

Can they take the priest too?

Organized religion is a thing of the devil, even if I find personal religion to be individually wonderful.

I don't think all ICE agents are racist thugs. Some of them are decent people. Their leadership, however, is blatantly racist and lawless, and the agency has a bad reputation among law enforcement (for a multitude of reasons). Here is the truth about ICE:

Prior to 9/11, there existed an Agency called the "Immigration and Naturalization Service". Note: it was a service and it promoted naturalization. It was under the DoJ. The Homeland Security Act (HSA) of 2002, created the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the new cabinet-level position of Secretary of Homeland Security, and created three components within the DHS: United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

From the outset, the mission of ICE changed the culture of the agency. It became all about keeping people out, and its agents are viewed as "hot dogs and cowboys" within the LE community - they don't follow LE protocols for searches and seizures; they are inadequately trained; and are unusually aggressive. There was such a push to hire that a lot of unqualified personnel were brought in to fill unrealistic quotas in ICE and CBP (sound familiar). It's been an ongoing scandal.

The Trump regime's fixation with rounding up immigrants and making them "illegal" by revoking their legal status has created a huge backlog of cases, exacerbated by gross incompetence, inadequate staffing, and the elimination of a sixth of the Immigration judges tasked with reviewing cases. Agents from other federal agencies have been dragooned into service with this "inferior" agency. They resent it, both because they're better trained and because it's not their job. Real crimes are not being investigated.

This new recruiting is aimed at male White Nationalists (no females or agents of color appear in recruitment material and jingoistic slogans are promoted).

It's all toxic masculinity on steroids.

What could possibly go wrong?
