It would be nice to see a year, hell even a month that Obama doesn't blame Bush for something!!! I do recall Bush wanting Fannie and Freddie to be "reined in" but the Dems would hear nothing of it. Well, they all railroaded Newt Gingrich out, got that bitch Pelosi in, and now they think they all live on Mount Olympus!!

The day the Democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009
-- it was actually January 3rd 2007.

The day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives & Senate, the start of the 110th Congress.

The Democratic Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.

"For those of you who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is "Bush's Fault," think about this:

January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress:

At the time:
The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
The Unemployment rate was 4.6%

George Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB CREATION!

Remember the day.

January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?
BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!

THANK YOU DEMOCRATS for taking us from 13,000 DOW, 3.5 GDP and 4.6% Unemployment to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOS!

(BTW: Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie - starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy).

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac?

OBAMA

And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie?

OBAMA& the Democratic Congress

So when some idiot tries to blame Bush

REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007 THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!

Bush may have been in the car but the Democrats were in charge of the gas pedal and steering wheel they were driving.

Could you put an asterisk by the thread title?

Congratulations at least you got something correct.

Incorrect. While that may have been when the Dems had a majority, they didn't establish a fillbuster proof majoirty until after Obama was elected. Just having a majority is useless, particularly since the Republicans used the fillibuster a record number of times in that time between when the Dems achieved a majority and after Obama was elected.

The day the Democrats took over ..... took over what exactly?

It seems you are attempting to give the impression that the Democrats took over the government on that day. All they did was take a majority in both houses of Congress - just one of the three branches of government. The Presidency/Executive branch was still held by a Republican and a majority of Republicans held the Supreme Court.

The housing bubble started in Jan 2007?

Right around the time it ended

Its amazing how you lefties can deny the truth......As you can tell by the polls the American people don't buy your lies............Come November your history.......

So the Reps aren't responsible for anything that happened when they didn't have a supermajority?

You righties can't have been doing a very good job, or us lefties wouldn't have got in power in the first place.

And what exactly does that mean, Republicans had the Presidency and the Supreme Court? what legislation could the Republicans implement with Democrats totally controlling the Legislative Branch?

What is it about liberalism that creates such passion for their failed ideology? Liberals seem to think solely with their hearts and not their brains. It is ok to spend in the name of compassion but where are those compassionate results? Why is it that the intellectual elite that attracts the lesser educated Americans and keeps them dependent on liberal programs?

The Question has been asked here where are the links? History provides those links and even when they are provided liberals ignore them. GW Bush couldn't do a thing without Democrat support and this Democrat Party was more interested in regaining the WH than they were in doing their job of being responsible to the American people.

It is amazing how almost two years after taking over the Executive Branch and after almost 4 years of controlling the Congress it remains GW Bush's fault for the economy we have today according to liberals. That is all they have thus I will enjoy the ride as Democrats get booted out of office in record numbers this fall. I only hope we can survive another two years for the same to happen to Barack Obama whose actual resume is finally "coming home to roost."

I really love it how Canadians lecture Americans on the understanding of economics. Liberals don't seem to mind at all. What is it exactly in those figures that are wrong? Did the Democrats not take control of the Congress in January 2007? Did GW Bush ever have a filibuster proof Congress? Did GW Bush not try to regulate Freddie and Fannie? Did the Democrats not have a part to play in the recession that hit this country as NBER states began in December 2007?

I welcome open honest debate on U.S. economic policy but not from Canadians who don't have a clue how our economy works nor understands the economic principles upon which this country was built.

just taking a quick look at those numbers, there isnt that much difference between republicans and democrats.

Then you missed the point, those with less than a high school education vote more for the Democrats thus my statement. If you were one of the 47% of the people that don't pay any income taxes who are you most likely to vote for?

do you have proof that none of them pay taxes?? otherwise, you are labeling an entire group of people who don't care for your ideology.

No I don't have proof, why is it you always want proof except when it comes to liberal programs and claims. Who do you think makes up the 47% that don't pay any Federal Income taxes? I am sure you want proof of the 47% too, right. Go to the IRS website and find out what percentage don't pay taxes. You can go to the U.S.Census to find out actually pays the taxes.

correct, you don't have proof...thank you

Have you ever been on a construction site conservative? There are not too many liberals or high school educations there.

Yep, worked construction for years while in college, great people, hardly union although many construction workers are and therein lies much of the problems the labor market faces today.

The IRS and Census Bureau give that proof. I don't need to have that proof since both those sites do.
when you make such a statement, the burden is on you to provide the proof...not on me to prove your point for you.
