A feel good thread - The Eiffel Tower lights up in Ukraine's colors

All this is all really very nice- but it’s not helping them much. Wish there was something more we could do.

Malignant narcissistic psychopaths in positions of great power, like Putin, are a big problem. And unfortunately these positions of great power disproportionately attract such mentally deranged people.

There is a lot happening. China spurned Putin by stating Ukraine is a sovereign state. Protests in Iran are shouting Death to Putin. Hungary and their autocratic dictator Orban, whom I thought for sure would support Putin, announced Hungary's support for Ukraine. Poland, Austria and I think Romania announced the welcoming of Ukranian refugees. The sanctions are going to put Putin in a horrible light with regards to his own people who are already mad at him for a dying economy.

To top that off, Anthony Blinkin just authorized an extra $350 million in military aide on top of the, I think, $230 million already approved.

LOL Putin just declared Hungary as one of the many countries Russia owns. So not shocking.

Terminal Tower in Cleveland was also lit up in the colors of Ukraine. Cleveland has a large Slavic population.

Hungary is in NATO so... good luck with that pooty boy.

Hungary has a fascist leader, Orban.
That's why I was shocked that he threw in agaist Putin and backed Ukraine.

There's more to the story on Hungary. They have elections coming in April, and while the fascist leader Orban controls 90% of the media and the opposition candidate hasn't been invited on it once yet, it's a close race at 49-45.

In addition, Orban chummied up to Putin earlier this month, visiting Putin and barring any more NATO troops, and the opponent attacked him for it.

"We already expressed that he shouldn't go, and if he does go, then he shouldn't come back," Marki-Zay said of Orban's visit. "We believe that Russia is the aggressor in this Russian-Ukrainian conflict, and we should stand with Ukraine's territorial integrity."

So in light of the invasion, Orban presumably has a pretty big political motive for the coming election to condemn the invasion.

We elected a reality TV actor and chose very badly. Ukraine elected a TV comedian and chose very well.

During his inaugural address in 2019, Zelensky told lawmakers: “I do not want my picture in your offices: the President is not an icon, an idol or a portrait. Hang your kids' photos instead, and look at them each time you are making a decision.”

I don't know if this is real, but it shows a Ukranian farmer in his tractor stealing a Russian vehicle as the Russian soldier runs to catch him.

Separated at birth? I always found the movie "Independence Day"'s presidenti character to be absurd 'patriot porn', but man, if Zelensky doesn't top him.

World of Tanks is viewed by players as a 'Russian game'. But events have clarified that.

They announced they have 550 staff working out of Kyev they are trying to help and evacute; that they have donated $1 million to the Red Cross; and a senior Russian employee tweeted his support for Putin and they announced he no longer works for them as a result. Players are buying in-game Ukranian flags for their tanks.
