"Joe Biden has been president for a little over a year. And that year was not kind to him."

Joe Biden policy has not received high marks, not even average marks after his first year in office.
On almost all issues., including Inflation, immigration, weakness with foreign policy, rising urban crime, crumbling infrastructure, and lastly but not least, Covid. And now Americans have learned that fuel costs are going up, way up and that means higher prices on everything for us in the months ahead. What's baffling is how, according to Democrats, 80% think his first year has been a success. o_O

In a new NPR/PBS/Marist College poll, more than half -- 56% -- of Americans said that Biden's first year in office was a "failure," while just 39% described it as a success.

The news doesn't get better the more you dig into the survey. Two-thirds of independents said Biden's first year was a failure, while more than 9 in 10 Republicans (91%) agreed with that assessment.

Biden's numbers are better among Democrats -- 80% called year one a success -- but 15% of members of his own party described his first year in office as a failure.

Now, asking such a binary question -- either Biden's first year was a success or a failure, with no room in the middle -- does tend to strip any nuance from issue. There are incredible complexities that go into assessing how a president has done.

Oftentimes, a president is judged in one way during his time in office and in another after he leaves, once the impacts of his policies come into clearer focus.

That said, elections tend to force voters to think in this all-or-nothing way. Either you vote for a Democrat or for a Republican. Either you vote to re-elect your incumbent or you choose the challenger.

Seen through that political lens, these poll numbers are extremely problematic for Democrats on the ballot this fall. We know that, historically, the first midterm election of a president's term is a referendum on his time in office up to that point.

The Point: If the public's report card on Biden's second year in office is anything like the one for his first year, Democrats can kiss their House and Senate majorities goodbye.

Thank God for President Biden.

Keep fighting the good fight, Joe. I can't think of any other president except possibly Abraham Lincoln who has faced as much of a shit storm to try to help the country find safe passage through.

When you decide to cut up the tax cut piecemeal and start pulling peoples loopholes one by one as they're working, people get pissed off.

Shock of shocks! The leftist agenda is generally disagreeable with the US electorate!

There are many reasons and angles in which people are disatisifed with Biden.

But the majority of Americans are not Trumpist or Republican traitors nor are they becoming so.

As you point out, many reasons. Don't know why you believe there's anything there WRT becoming 'Trumpist or Republican', much less becoming traitors.

But I get it. Anyone not toeing the liberal / progressive / Democrat ideological line, having differing political positions or differing political opinions need be considered as traitors to that ideological line, and as such destroyed by any and every means necessary, just as all non-Marxists have been by Marxists down through history. It's the ideological purity thing for the liberals / progressives / Democrats.

The reality is that it has far more to do with kitchen table issues than anything else. Submitted for your reference and review. Multiple sources included in case there's a source whicch you reject out of hand (never keep up with which ones are being arbitrarily rejected this week).

Thanks for returning the thread to the actual topic... :)

And what do I get, a fox news poll "blaming" Biden for inflation, might as well have polled the same people to see if Biden is Satan himself, would have come back the same.

And yeah... I'd worry about inflation, in fact its the FIRST THING that came to mind when I saw how Central Banks and Governments were looking to respond to the pandemic...

It's not unique to the United States, it's now a global problem with many reasons.

But your implication is clear, Bidens number are down, therefore it automatically means people agree with people like me.

No.

No they don't.

Don't know where, or why for that matter, you are reading that into a post which is only citing polling results of polls which assess Biden's results. 🤷‍♂️
Is this your general reaction to data and facts with which you don't agree with?

It's something that generally annoys me, the implication is clear as what you said here:

The leftist agenda is generally disagreeable with the US electorate!

Bidens numbers are down for a variety of reasons, some stuff he can and cannot control for many, he hasn't gone far enough.

But your implication is clear, his numbers are down, therefore more people agree with me.

Are you worried about inflation?

I am and saw this coming for 2 years since you bring that up to.

But what the hell solutions do you and the party you'll end up supporting have beyond cutting taxes for the richest Americans? Again?

As much as you probably disagree with the statement:

"The leftist agenda is generally disagreeable with the US electorate!"

It is a factual statement, regardless if it annoys you or not. There are poll I can cite, if you wish, but better that you don't take my word for it, and seek out those polls on your own.

Joe's first year has to be a success, we have to have greater Majorities in 2023.

So you bring up 100 polls, with a fox news one blaming Biden for inflation...

And now you won't say how the party you'll end up supporting with solve it?

Because I'll tell you what, when the interest rate hammer comes down on the economy, you'll complain about that too, his poll numbers will likely sink even lower because that's how it goes and you'll still have no solutions to the issue of inflation.

Agree.

I can think of one not long ago.

Well said and true.

Better check you numbers. Whatever you wanna call them the tide is going against Biden.

democrats tend to be a bit smarter and of higher IQ

The poll mentioned in the OP isn't the only one that shows Biden has tanked in the polls. They are all over the place. What I have noticed not only has there been a significant number of Democrats that are disgusted but it is really shocking how much support he has lost with Independents. All this in just a little over a year. It isn't too late for Biden to turn this around but in order to do so he is going to have to ditch the far left of his party and change course.

No doubt it has been a rough road for Biden. Some warranted, some not....but his lack of lash back and personal outrage on the numbers speaks to his strength of character and focus on the job at hand. What one expects from a President who is not self absorbed by his ego.
