72 Shot in Chicago in Wave of Holiday Weekend Violence | NBC Chicago

Twelve men were killed and at least 60 other people were wounded in shootings throughout Chicago during the holiday weekend, including eight people who were shot in a West Side attack Saturday.

The weekend's latest shooting took place Sunday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of South Ashland when two men were shot, one fatally.

According to preliminary information, one man, whose age was not known, was killed in the shooting after being shot in the back and another was taken in critical condition with wounds to the arm and chest, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss.

Nobody is in custody for any of the murders.
But....but...but doesn't Chicago have laws against guns? And it looks like great police work too.

There will be blood in the streets if we approve Concealed Carry....oh, wait.....there already is.....never mind.

I wonder how many of these guns were bought from a gun show

Poor people in Chicago might be better off taking their chances in Cairo.

Proof positive that strict gun laws prevent shootings and that the police will keep us all safe. Big blue cities are such safe places, unlike those red rural areas where many folks carry guns. ;)

If this happened in Rocky Point Mexico the news would be screaming a warning to not travel to mexico. And that is if it happened once. All day every day in Chicago, I just can't imagine living in that kind of cesspool.

Perhaps the Chicago police department may eventually recover one of these guns and check out its pedigree for you - have patience, grasshopper. ;)

It's no wonder that barry and his beard never go back there for a vacation.

BS - that would require real police work and will never happen.

True...I have friends that were held hostage in Rocky Point a few years back but, truth be told, it's a pretty safe area as long as you don't go "exploring".

It is a sad state of affairs brought on by many reasons, not the least of which is the failure of the modern welfare state in the hands of those who just want to keep poor people on the voting hook. Unfortunately the GOP is too bassackwards to come up with anything better than "Give them nothing and they can eat cake." so same crap different decade.

So why do people live in Chicago?

What about this big red cities that also have high murder rates?

Oh goodie. Another chance for the far right to get their merit badges by mocking Chicago - a city which spawned the great Satan and is the perpetual target of extremist hatred. :doh:roll:

New Orleans, Brimingham, Baton Rouge, Celvland, Dallas, Houston.

The "chocolate city" is republican?

Anyway, post the crime statistics from those cities. Let's see how they compare to obama's home town.

Houston elected Sheila Jackson Lee, 'nuff said on their "red" status, though they are interesting in that they do have some diverse politics by district, they have a lot of conservatives to be sure, but plenty of liberals. Dallas is solid blue the last few elections, NOLA hasn't elected a Rebuplican mayor in years, the Landrieu family owns that town. Cleveland is a huge union city, so I'm pretty sure they aren't exactly "red", and not sure about Birmingham, but iirc they are high purple.
