Health Care Law - Rasmussen Reports

Support for repeal of the new national health care plan has jumped to its highest level ever. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 63% of U.S. voters now favor repeal of the plan passed by congressional Democrats and signed into law by President Obama in March.

63% Favor Repeal of National Health Care Plan... and the words... passed by congressional Democrats and signed into law by President Obama... are vunderful.

yep..it's very unfortunate that people refuse to educate themselves about this bill, instead believing whatever talk radio feeds them.

Bazinga!

Personally, I don't care about the details of the bill (though I have read up on it fairly extensively). I know what it intends to do and I am against the philosophy of the bill. It is not the government's job to ensure that each US citizen has healthcare and so they should step back.It is stepping beyond the boundary of the duties of a national United States government with this bill.

The government finally passes at least a watered down semi reform of the most expensive and least effective health care plan in the Western world, and 63% of the voters want to repeal it before they have a clue as to what is in it. That's just pathetic. The chances that any meaningful reform, anything that will actually begin to bring down the astronomical cost of health care, will pass just dropped from slim to none. Meanwhile, we continue to pay more for less.

Oh, well, in the area of infant mortality, we're right up there with Poland and Slovakia, only slightly behind Cuba.

U.S. Ties Slovakia, Poland for 29th Place in Infant Deaths

With a little more effort, we might reach the level of Eastern Europe in other areas as well, while only spending double what other nations spend.

WE have a winner! Full marks for cutting the BS out and getting to the issue.

It is truly unfortunate.

Nobody read the bill and Pelosi said so herself... that after it was passed we would learn more. That they used by-offs and parliamentary procedures to pass this after Brown was elected makes them look even more scum-like... if that's possible.

The numbers are what they are because we are learning about this monstrosity, that will only grow and decay... and we are not liking it.
Score 1 for America - 0 for Amerika.

You know what else is truly unfortunate?

People have examples of this system in use for decades all over the world, and it has proven a failure. That isn't ignorance it is a blindness, a scotoma produced by holding onto an ideology despite what the facts and history have clearly proven.

That is truly sad, and very costly. It is the ignorant, blind and greedy that support a system that costs more, provides less and will cost lives. It is the introduction of waiting lists, death panels, and rationed care... just as it is from Kanuckistan to Copenhagen.

You don't need talk radio to tell you what I have told you... then again you probably do because the press is compliant propagandists and therefore derelict in their duty to inform the public.

Thank God for Talk Radio. More precisely, thanks to Rush taking on these freaks from the start and hoping for their failure, have we a chance to defeat Dems and repeal this nonsense.
Is it any wonder Obi and his crew want to silence them? And tried to convince people FOXNEWS is not a news network? BTW...you fit right in with these misfits by saying this upheaval is due to Talk Radio. Talk radio didn't start the Tea Party.

It looks like my link above is out of date. Here are some new stats, presenting a good news/bad news scenario. The good news is that infant mortality is on the decline world wide. The bad news is that our most expensive health care system in the world has fallen further behind.

Child mortality rates dropping, study finds, but U.S. lags

But as much of the world makes strides in reducing child mortality, the U.S. is increasingly lagging and ranks 42nd globally, behind much of Europe as well as the United Arab Emirates, Cuba and Chile.

Twenty years ago, the U.S. ranked 29th in the child mortality rate, according to data analyzed by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.

If outspending the rest of the world while lagging behind the UAR, Cuba, and Chile is where we want to be, then we're in a good place.

Ever think that we attempt to save the lives of children that don't have a prayer in other countries? And why does it matter to the pro-death party? You'd think this would be a postive for you folks.

Just think, north of the border two cities, an hour apart, with a combined population of 3 to 4 million could not care for a mildly complicated birth. What did they do, these clever Kanuckistani's? They sent the family to a US village of some 50,000 near the border... to deal with a birth a well established SocialstMed system couldn't handle.

Don't you find it strange that we never hear of Americans going to Kanuckistan for major procedures, yet it is normal for K-stani's to come south? Just think, they have a military of 3 Moose Hunters and a couple US planes... saving billions... yet their CommiKare still sucks big time.

Please, the US had the best system by far and wide, and the less government is involved, the better and cheaper it will be. Think if the government got involved with cell phone distribution, pricing and the lot? You wouldn't have one.

The fact that you rely on a drug addict to educate you, speaks volumes.

The fact that you rely on a drug addict to educate you, speaks volumes.

And the fact that you voted for a Crackhead speaks volumes as well.

There, we've dispensed with the worthless hyperbolic hyper partisan drivel, shall we talk about the topic now?

Does 63% in favor of its repeal mean good things for the Republicans in 2010 and 2012? Possibly. Without information regarding how many of those 63% are liberals who want this gone because they feel it gives too much to insurance companies and wants a full public option its hard to really say. What I do think is more accurate to say is it definitely doesn't mean good things for the Democrats. Even if 25% are liberals that are unhappy with it, that still is giving you a large amount of Republicans that are stirred up and ready to come out to vote and a decent amount of liberals that are relatively upset and likely to be depressed in the turn out or vote 3rd party.

That said, I don't think simply because a majority of Americans wnat it repealed means we should do it based on that alone, no more than I thought we should immedietely pull out of Iraq because of it being the opinion of a majority of Americans. During Clinton's years I didn't think you should govern simply on Polls, during Bush's years I didn't think you should govern simply on Polls, and during Obama's years I don't think you should govern simply on Polls. They're too easy to manipulate, are too lacking of nuance, and are polling people who often put self interest ahead of what may be best or are not really educated on the subject matter. If someone comes around 3 months from now and shows that 63% of people favor a "free public health care" I'm not going to give that any more or less credance than I give this.

Ahh, the lame defense of the left.
When stuck with reality poking them in the eye, throw a shovel of feces.

Disney, I used to be like you.
I was an unapologetic socialist.
180 degrees to where I am now.

I grew up. Traveled a ton, saw much of the socialist world, and with time came to the conclusion I was wrong on issue after issue. Though I fell into the socialist camp on issue after issue, I wasn't tied to the ideology, wasn't closed minded, it did not blind me. The last belief in socialism to fall was healthcare, and that was about 20-years ago.

It helps to have a voracious appetite for the truth.

And you? What's your excuse?

This is a good start to understand how feeble socialist states are when compared to US States.
The very best Euros are among the five worst US states. Enjoy.

Well of course they want it repealed. I want it repealed too. It isn't real reform.

No matter who's doing the poll... I've said it in other posts but I will say it again...

I don't buy this whole What america wants/supports crap... people seem to be more concerned with brandgelina then with half of this political nonsense.

Here's a question:

Why shouldn't healthcare be considered an essential public service like police and fire protection?

because you can't expand medicare and medicaid, already overstrained, already critically relied upon, by 12 million while simultaneously cutting their already insufficient fundings by half a T, fundamentally

while americans in near unison say, repeal the pig, obamites comeback with the same 3 pathetic counterarguments---

1. it's better than doing nothing

2. republicans were no help

3. opponents lie about its contents

wow, sounds like a really great bill

LOL!

Wait...are you talking about the democrat politicians and liberal idiots who voted for this and support it without (admittedly) even knowing whats in it, what it will cost, when it even kicks in, etc?

I agree...what complete and utter dumbasses.

Maybe people found out Obamacare will cost them more than insurance does now.

The fact that you rely on a drug addict to educate you, speaks volumes.

I thought we agreed to not talk about Obamas admitted crack use...

True that. But misinformation dies a hard death. :(

I post facts, and you come back with a tired hyperpartisan rant.

"CommiKare in Kanukistan" costs less and has a better result than our vaunted "best system in the world."

Sorry, but your opinion is not supported by the facts.

Here's a question:

Why shouldn't healthcare be considered an essential public service like police and fire protection?

That's a good question! Truly. I won't argue for the sake of arguing - I'm just looking for the right answer.

I'm not 100% sure and I can't find any research, but I believe that police and fire protection are all set up locally and aren't mandated to exist by the federal government. Which means you move into communities that have such a protection and it is your choice as to whether or not you want to live in that municipality. That the municipality (or state) is a group of people who set up local laws to include police & fire protection and all members must pay.

This is ok at the local (and even state) level. But to be a US citizen, one is not required to be in one of these municipalities. The Federal government is strictly prohibited, by my interpretation of the 10th amendment, to make such laws that require US citizens to do anything because they are a US citizen, unless of course the constitution specifically gives the national gov't that right to make such laws. But the local governments are not restricted, according to the same amendment. It states if it's not designated to the national government, it's up to the states or the people respectively. That is because if you disagree with the law, you can move to another state or municipality and still be a US citizen. Or the people can uprise against the legislation more easily at local levels, giving the people more power to live how they want to live. But if the federal government makes these laws that restrict your freedoms, the only way to get out of the law is to give up your citizenship.

So at the local level, you are electing to give up your freedoms as a US citizen, but you have another choice (you can move) and still be a US citizen. At the federal level, you have no other choice if you are to remain a US citizen. No other choice is synonymous with less freedom. And America is synonymous with freedom. So such federal laws contradict the very definition of America.

All of this is based on my assumption that I cannot confirm: that the federal government does not force such police & fire dept's to exist at the more local levels. If the federal government does force these departments upon us, I would be against that legislation too (though I would support the actual departments' existences)
