For some reason, I think we will be seeing more cases as a result of the Sturgis rally. This one wedding in Maine, with 65 attending, has now spread to people who weren't at the wedding or reception; the one death so far was a person who wasn't in attendance.

53 people infected as a result of Millinocket wedding and reception

An Aug. 7 wedding and reception in Millinocket that led to a coronavirus outbreak is now linked to 53 cases of the virus along with one previously reported death, the state said Saturday.

Investigators from the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention said they have now identified secondary and tertiary transmission of the virus stemming from the wedding and reception, meaning people are infected who did not attend but came into contact with attendees.

The 53 reported cases reflects an increase of 16 since Friday, when CDC officials reported 37 cases associated with the wedding. The state reported the death of one woman who had been admitted to a hospital for treatment in connection with the outbreak.

Currently, 41 confirmed and 12 probable cases are included in the outbreak, in individuals ranging from 4 to 98 years old.

And how many are actually sick?

People assume the risk. Choice is theirs and theirs alone to make.

So, you are saying that it is YOUR choice to become infected and then go out and infect others - because you think wearing a mask, social distancing, frequent hand washing are all just the beginning of some communist takeover of a free America. That Bill Gates will have microchips injected into every American with his supposed vaccine when it's actually just the first step on mind-control of the un-knowing.

You are free to assume whatever you want. How was the cake at this wedding? With only 50 people I bet the slices were a lot thicker than at most weddings.

Little wonder your replies are so insipid, you obviously refuse to read anything that contradicts what Trump and QAnon are telling you. Here in bold letters from the OP

your freedom ends at your nose. if someone insists on attending a stupid social event, a 14 day quarantine should be the price of admission.

Not everyone enjoys cake :2wave:

BTW if you want to talk about insipid, quite a few of the people who have covid didn't even attend the wedding. They got it from someone who did which means that person was probably patient zero and spreading it before they went to the wedding, while at the wedding, and since the wedding.

Is it the choice of the people that are infected by people that got infected at the wedding? You know, that they come across in the grocery store, waiting room, DMV?

This is the barely coherent and grammatically inept speech of a man who desperately wants to be able to claim that he "cured coronavirus."

That's it, in a nutshell. When we do get a handle on this crisis, he wants to be able to pull out footage and declare "I called it! I said use this! I said try this! I told them to do this, it was my idea!" He's just doing it with lots of stupid stuff because he doesnt want to miss an opportunity. He's afraid 'the big one' will be mentioned and he wont get credit for it.

It's all about declaring himself the savior of the cv crisis and we'll hear all about it, esp in his campaign. (Which is basically each of his press briefings these days) --- Lursa

If you're infected you're already sick. That's what an infection is; a sickness. Furthermore you already know you can be asymptomatic (infected and unaware), while spreading the disease to everyone you meet. What does it take to get you people to listen?

As Mitch Albom wrote:

And those of us healthy enough to survive COVID-19 could still spread it to someone who is not, without knowing it. We are all potential victims. We are all potential killers. That’s how insidious this disease is.

You're advocating for a right compatible with yelling "fire" in a crowded theater.

This is law. You're holding hostage those obligated to comply with it. You have not right to do that.

Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act - Wikipedia
Hospitals have three obligations under EMTALA:

Individuals requesting emergency care, or those for whom a representative has made a request if the patient is unable to do so, must receive a medical screening examination (MSE) to determine whether an emergency medical condition (EMC) exists. The participating hospital cannot delay examination and treatment to inquire about methods of payment or insurance coverage, or a patient's citizenship or legal status. ....

Laws requiring seatbelt use by vehicle passengers, followed or not, have no effect on the health or lives of doctors, nurses,
and other healthcare personnel, or on high risk medical status members of the public, yet seatbelt laws endure, are enforced,
save lives.

You present with depraved indifference. I suggest you ask yourself why.

How many were infected by the Floyd rallies/protests/riots? Surely as you are so keenly interested in public health and the dangers of public, outdoors gatherings, you must have some statistics for us.
TIA

What bothers me is we may remain in lock down until after the election. Biden says he is willing to shut down the country if the medical lobby says so. Trump says, **** it. Work or let the country collapse. But neither side is ready to tell the truth “It’s as good as it is going to get.” The Treasury can’t keep writing checks with no money coming in. Something has to give.

The Goddamn Chinese couldn’t have timed their “accident” it better.

Laws would never change if people "have not right to" advocate against them, but the first amendment is the law that grants me the right you claim I do not have.

And no I was not being sarcastic. I assume you were with your yelling fire in a theater thing though because that one makes no sense whatsoever.

It would be nice if everyone on here would come together to condemn the BLM two month superspreader event.

I think we past that a long time ago, when woke healthcare workers by the thousands signed off on the "protests" because they were more important than not spreading covid.
When mayors paint "murals" that act like Bat Signals to the rioters, there will never be an expectation they will condemn the mass gatherings that have spread into the streets for 4 months now.

Ah yes, we should have a contest what's more stupid, bike rallies or Floyd rallies.

Depraved indifference flavors your reply.... indifference to the consequences on others, resulting from either tort ....
Causing panic in an enclosed area by falsely calling out an alarm; fire! Inflicting serious illness on caregivers or first responders
obligated to render medical assistance to those you assert some imaginary right to spread pandemic infection to.

tort - a wrongful act or an infringement of a right (other than under contract) leading to civil legal liability.
"public nuisance is a crime as well as a tort"

Are you saying depraved indifference does not apply because you are prepared to pay the consequences for committing a tort
by exercising an asserted right to spread wittingly or unwittingly, Covid-19 ?

Depraved Indifference Law and Legal Definition | USLegal, Inc.

To constitute depraved indifference, the defendant's conduct must be 'so wanton, so deficient in a moral sense of concern, so lacking in regard for the life or lives of others, and so blameworthy as to warrant the same criminal liability as that which the law imposes upon a person who intentionally causes a crime. Depraved indifference focuses on the risk created by the defendant’s conduct, not the injuries actually resulting...
