Hello all,
I need your help with a project I'm doing. Just simply reply to the following questions with a yes, no, or maybe answer. I would of posted this in the polls forum but since you can only have 1 poll per post I thought this way would be easier.

1. Do you think it was necessary for the increase in gas prices?
2. Do you think it is right/moral for abortions to be practiced?
3. Should the President have a definite timetable to bring the troops home from Iraq?
4. Should the government have a national healthcare plan for all Americans to be covered?
5. Is there any job security? (overall)

Thanks for your help and remember comments are appreciated.

Necessary in what way? Gas follows the rules of supply and demand just like any other product, so yes, it is necessary that companies in business to make money charge what their product was worth.

2. Do you think it is right/moral for abortions to be practiced?

Yes.

Nintendo839 said:
3. Should the President have a definite timetable to bring the troops home from Iraq?

A flexible timetable, yes. But not a restrictive timetable that will give the insurgents a tactical advantage.

Nintendo839 said:
4. Should the government have a national healthcare plan for all Americans to be covered?

No. God no. That would be disastrous.

5. Is there any job security? (overall)

I really have no clue what you mean by this.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Yes
5. Don't really understand question. I think it'd be no.

hope this helps

1. Do you think it was necessary for the increase in gas prices? no. i think that the gas companies, the big ones raised the prices to keep their profit.
2. Do you think it is right/moral for abortions to be practiced? i guess it would depend on the situation. but to be perfectly honest, no. unless it is very, very early in the pregnancy.
3. Should the President have a definite timetable to bring the troops home from Iraq? no. in my opinon that would cause the troops to be demoralized and the insurgents will become more bold if they know that we are pulling out.
4. Should the government have a national healthcare plan for all Americans to be covered? i dont know. lol. it works in some places and not in others.
5. Is there any job security? (overall) i think so. but then again it depends on the job and the company.

I hope you become a participant here, but I will bite.

1. Do you think it was necessary for the increase in gas prices?
Unfortunatly, yes. We have not built a refinery since the 70's and many were shut down due to Rita. Our gas prices are low, and to this we can thank our folks across the pond - Europe. They gave us extra to keep up.
2. Do you think it is right/moral for abortions to be practiced?
No. Not under *any* circumstances.
3. Should the President have a definite timetable to bring the troops home from Iraq?
Nope. Many in the conservative movement believe so. I think that it would further embolden the terrorists.
4. Should the government have a national healthcare plan for all Americans to be covered?
Well, we kinda have one. Medicare and Medicade. It should not go any futher than that.
5. Is there any job security? (overall)
Nope. Everyone is disposible.

1. YES. Lack of new drilling and new refineries coupled with devestating hurricane has got to be putting pressure on supply and demand

2.YES. You have to have the right to do with your body what you see fit.

3.NO. Serves no purpose and can not be expected to be followed. Would only be used as a tool for the left to beat him with if it was not held to exactly

4.NO. With a population over 290,000,000 people don't see how its possible to inact UH without increasing taxes beyond what you spend for private healthcare. And I think you will definetly suffer from a lack of services, availabilty, and specialist. Not to mention the impact I think it would have on the pharmacutical industry and the medical research industry as a whole. Less new breathroughs, new drugs, new procedures.

5.NO. Any more it seems to be more of a nomadic situation. Gone are the days of working your whole life at a company, least for the most part

1. Do you think it was necessary for the increase in gas prices?

No

2. Do you think it is right/moral for abortions to be practiced?

Yes

3. Should the President have a definite timetable to bring the troops home from Iraq?

Yes

Yes

5. Is there any job security? (overall)

No

1. Do you think it was necessary for the increase in gas prices?

Yes, to an extent. Supply and demand naturally caused an increase but to the degree they were, I can't say for sure. I don't know enough about the inner workings of the oil industry to say if there was any price gouging... there's arguments on both sides from some very credible sources.

2. Do you think it is right/moral for abortions to be practiced?

Right/moral: no. Legal: yes.

3. Should the President have a definite timetable to bring the troops home from Iraq?

No.

4. Should the government have a national healthcare plan for all Americans to be covered?

Hell no.

5. Is there any job security? (overall)

Yes... some.

1. Do you think it was necessary for the increase in gas prices?

Who should determine this? I say the gas company. Yes.

2. Do you think it is right/moral for abortions to be practiced?

No! It's murder.

3. Should the President have a definite timetable to bring the troops home from Iraq?

No.

4. Should the government have a national healthcare plan for all Americans to be covered?

Helllllllllll no!

5. Is there any job security? (overall)

I have no idea.

If it'll force people on eht whole to consider alternative fuels, I'm all for it (biodiesel, for me). However, I do know that there are many people living on very, very low incoms that gas hikes can ruin. I feel for them.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't want to be wrong, so I am pro life.

I don't think it should be up to him. I think that battle hardened generals, who know something called military strategy, should decidede on the fastest, yet still effective withdrawl plan. The idea that soneone with the limited military experience of GW is in charge of the armed forces frightens the bejesus out of me.

4. Should the government have a national healthcare plan for all Americans to be covered?
If it means better coverage for everyone, then yes. If not, then the healthcare industry needs to put pressure on perscription drug companies to lower prices.

Relatively, yes. I know that I cannot lose my job without a lot of **** happening (of course I have a great lawyer in my back pocket, most people do not). Overall, job security is a myth.

Thanks for the great questions!

1. Do you think it was necessary for the increase in gas prices?

No it is just greed.

2. Do you think it is right/moral for abortions to be practiced?

This is a two parter. I believe that abortion is an evil practice but I would not stop a woman from making her own choice. In short it is none of my busisness.

3. Should the President have a definite timetable to bring the troops home from Iraq?

Yes and it should be today.

4. Should the government have a national healthcare plan for all Americans to be covered?

Yes everyone should be able to buy into insurance as we do with auto insurance.

5. Is there any job security? (overall)

No in this day and age you can't count on companies to not terminate or eliminate jobs.

Do you have evidence to support your claim that it had nothing to do with supply and demand?

Yes and it should be today.

So we should just give up everything we've been fighting for and everything that over 2000 American soldiers have died for? We should give into al Qaeda and surrender? We should hand over an oil-rich nation to terrorists? We should screw the Iraqis and allow a mass slaughter to take place? We should make fools of ourselves in the international community, further emboldening ruthless dictators around the world to tighten the grips they have on their people?

I wasn't aware everybody could afford auto insurance. I can think of a few people off the top of my head who can't.

You're obviously unfamiliar with the word contract.

First of all, I did post mine.

Secondly, you posted several of yours as if they were facts so I responded accordingly.

All these questions force unreliable answers. As I think you intended.

The companies are in business to make money hence greed. This is why the price of gas jumped from $2.49 in my area on 8/29/2005 to $3.19 on 8/30/2005. Same gas in the storage tanks.

Here's the thing we should have never gone into Iraq in the first place. It is a little building a damn across a river then complaining that we can't stop contruction even though there is flooding up stream and there wouldn't be if we had never started the damn in the first place.
We need to leave Iraq today.

But the difference is that if they could afford to they could buy auto insurance. With health insurance you just can't call up blue cross and join you have to go through your employer. That is what I am talking about mandating that insurance companies offer health insurance to the general public the same system that is used for auto insurance. This is hardly nation health care. I also believe this is the system that John Kerry had in mind.

Companies lay off and terminate people all the time not everyone is covered by a contract. I know that I am not in my employement I could be terminated for any reason at any time, as my company is an at will company. I hardly call this job security.
