When I first read the headline my first reaction was, "That's unnecessarily harsh."

Well, turns out the title is misleading... almost lying-by-omission. Surprise, surprise.

Anyway, the story is more intriguing. Based on what is presented here, I don't think the sentence is harsh at all. I also believe that he does this on purpose because he wants to be in jail. No rent, no responsibility, and so on.

While I have pretty much nothing but contempt for the guy, I'll say that I appreciate he's not doing any violent crime to meet his goals.

If his goal was to be incarcerated I do not understand the plea agreement for a lesser charge. Maybe that would have been to long between fine meals?

Well, I guess if you are trying to go to jail that is about the best way to do it. Pig out on delicious meal before getting sent off.
