Nigel Winfield, a 3 time convicted felon who ran FN Aviation, a company based in Cypress, along with his partner, Syrian born Fouad Al-Zayat, needed to sell spare US aircraft parts to Iran. On Winfeld's behalf, Ney spoke with Colin Powell and other members of the Bush administration in an attempt to ease sanctions on Iran. The deal fell through, and now the Justice Department is investigating Ney's ties to Winfield and Al-Zayat. Ney claims that he did this for humanitarian purposes, but the records show that Ney's interest in this deal was because of the all expense paid trip to London that was paid for by Winfield.
