280 Moscow Tanks Destroyed by Ukraine Using US Javelin Missile

There have certainly been some huge advances in anti-tank weaponry in the last few decades.
In fact, in the UK before we made the decision to go with Challenger 3 tanks there was discussion about ditching tanks entirely and using the savings for more mobile assets such as more new Apache's.
Tanks may become redundant in the next decade or so.

Money well spent.

It's comforting to see that Russian tanks didn't lose the habit of ejecting the turret.

Not really, because the grunts will still rely upon them.

It must never be forgotten that tanks were originally created as infantry support weapon. And although most people tend to concentrate on tanks against tanks and the like, they are most effective when working with grunts. And also the reverse, grunts work best with tanks for support.

Anti-tank missiles and AH-1 may be nice, but when grunts are nearby they can not throw smoke while firing their main gun and firing 3 machine guns. Or give the grunts something to hide behind when fire is coming in.

Those javelins are totally brutal. Well done America for supplying them.

Both the title of this thread and the video are wrong.

The number is not "280 tanks", it is "280 armored vehicles". Yes, it can be a tank. But also an APC, uparmored logistics vehicle, or just about anything else.

You need to pay attention to what your references say, and find ones that are more honest.

Exactly, because there is nothing holding on the turret. Just gravity.
Well, they're held horizontally, but you don't usually need to hold something that weighs that much down so they have some pretty minimal attachment that way.

A large amount of the claimed tanks are the bmp-1 apc which are operated by both ukrain and russia, and not even close to a tank in function.

Though I do find it odd for the actual tanks lost, most of the images I have seen have shown older model tanks, and not current tanks under the current standards of reactive armor, which has me curious why russia would send it's most advanced tanks to syria to achieve record survivability but turn around and send their outdated leftovers to ukraine.
