Bush is sending 230million to help Lebanon.

Is this money well spent, or a waste of money?

IMHO - waste of money. They blame us for "not stopping" Israel and sending them money isn't going to change their minds. Should they accept charity from the "enemy", they will only be humiliated further.

Time will tell, but for now it seems like a good idea.

I say pull all funding out of all middle-east countries except for Iraq ;) I say screw em all for causing such a self-righteous wreck. Ofcourse I'm kidding, but it kinda sound plausible. :rofl

its a 100% waste.
To hell with them.........

Im confused.

we blow up Iraq......we rebuild Iraq.

Israel blows up Lebanon......we rebuild Lebanon.

:doh makes perfect sense I suppose.

I'll have to agree with Ace...., to an extent..
Who is they ??
I care very little about what the ignorant man on the street thinks !

I suspect that this "aid" is just for rebuilding, and training the Lebanese army to be effective.
This may be money well spent - who knows ???

let Iran and the rest of teh Hezbollah supporting scum support Lebanons rebuilding
its not like the ragheads will start liking us because we threw some money at them
when in actuality we should have been shipping coffins to help after Israel wiped out the threat on their border

A waste of money. We give Billions to Israel, to defend themselves and then we give millions to rebuild lebenon.

I bet the deal says, that Haliburton has to be in charge of spending the money to rebuild Lebenon.

We need to give this money to New Orleans and let Israel, which is a very rich nation, and Lebenon, which is very poor, fight their own battles. No American troops should die in Lebenon for Corporate profits.

I will be curious to see when Lebanon starts rebuilding on whom will give them loans to do it--why? I will tell you when it's official.

It is pretty silly isn't it? I mean, to think Halliburton would even stoop so low as to accept a measely little 230 million dollar contract.

A waste of money. Olmert didn't solve the problem; instead, he Bushed the war. At some point in the future, Israel will have to go back and destroy Hezbollah, which means that any money handed out to Lebanon now is a waste.

I just think we can ill afford to allow Hezbollah to be the sole contributers to the rebuilding of severely devastated areas, or in others words, Iran to do so. I believe there is hope for the people there to conform to a rational democracy, and I have thought so ever since they demanded that Syria leave their country.

A waste, no, is it possible that it could fail, certainly.

Well, I'm not sure how monetary distribution is handled, but I doubt it's going to be some guy with a USA flag on the street corner handing out $$. And I doubt that any funds distributed by the Lebanese, er, distributors are going to say "courtesy of Uncle Sam", and I doubt that any $$ is going to buy their love for us. So I go with "waste of money".

it will be given with teh best of intentions
it will be corrupted by the politicians and Hezbollah
and end up funding the arming of Israels enemy
Let Iran bail them out
but than we wil get blasted for not caring

another case of DAMNED IF YOU DO, DAMNED IF YOU DONT
