21 year old woman dies after being shot while at a bar in North Philly.

That the gun was recovered is irrelevant.

Second, it is fundamentally evasive and dishonestly so to insist that any time gun control is proposed, it's DOA unless people largely for gun rights agree that it would have stopped this crime. You can always say what if, what if, what if. We do not judge any other law by that standard. If we did, we'd have to throw out the entire criminal code because, guess what, punishing crimes doesn't deter all criminals. It's a lazy misdirection.

The point is pragmatic. The point is probability over time. The point is doing things to reduce the possibility of the wrong people getting their hands on a gun.

(And probability does not truly apply to an individual action. "It's 10% likely that you'll win" has no direct bearing on whether you'll win if you play just once; all it means is that on average - over mutliple ****loads of sets - you can expect to win one out of every ten times you play).
So...then Mr. Pragmatic.

What would have reduced the probability of this crime? Do tell.

But remember, it's not that there might be a problem with having so many guns so easily accessible. It's that Americans are uniquely evil and cannot be trusted around the same guns that other countries trust people with hey wait a . . . .
If Americans are as you say "uniquely evil and cannot be trusted..." then explain how so many millions of guns and gun owners never commit crimes and are never a problem, myself included.

I continue to have very little hope. The 2nd was already there. It has been explicitly defined as broad as hell. There is only so much that can be done that can reduce gun violence given what will stand up in court.
The hope you are failing to see is that the vast majority of gun owners are empathetic, law abiding, rational people who would not do the evil we see in some of these news events.

Can't. Too many uneducated, emotionally driven nutters in the country.
That is a cop out. The numbers of legal gun owners and a total lack of crimes by them refutes your claim.

False

The reason we see this kind of violence is because we're too soft on criminals.

People would think twice before acting like this guy if after his trial, we hung him in a cage, in public, naked, until he died from thirst or exposure.

We need to be brutal to violent criminals, then they'll think twice.
We have he largest percentage of prison inmates in the world... and we are too soft. LOL

People get emotional over their rights?

Shocking. Who knew!
It is a right unlike any other right and one that only exists because some guys a few hundred years ago made it up.

Says the guy who posted a story about a unsolved gun crime.

Which part of the second amendment discusses "legal gun owners".

Executing drug users/suppliers in several Asian countries hasn't stopped drug crimes in them. USA having the worlds highest incarceration rate hasn't done much for the crime rates either. Whilst personally I would happily execute or permanently imprison people for repeat serious crimes, i would need to see some sort of evidence that it a actually works as a deterent first

Until they do commit a crime.
And that is one of the things that Gun Nutters just can not grasp. A legal gun owner that commits no crime is how basically all of the mass shooters start out... until they go on a mass shooting spree killing people. Then the Gun Salivators say, "gee whiz Wally... they are not legal gun owners who have not committed a crime".

No . ****ing . Shit

Didn't a young gentleman just murder a fast food worker because he complained that his food lacked enough mayo?

Boy, oh boy, the pendulum of permissiveness has swung too far to the left.

In a few decades, however, it will swing back too far to the right.

Nowadays no one wants to stay in his/her lane!
In fairness, trying to choke down a sandwich without enough mayo is absolute murder. 😏

US prisons are the worst out of major economies. It has far more people in those prisons, the sentences are longer.

Yet crime is much higher
