After watching the SOTU last evening and reviewing the political upheaval in the last few months, I believe that the US had better get ready for a two term Trump. The Democratic Party is in disarray. There are too many people of questionable political ability already running. There is talk of Joe Biden, BetoO’Rourke and Sen. Klobuchar entering the race. Too many competing messages and personalities.

Then there is the mess in Richmond. IMO, whether Northam is in the yearbook photo or not is immaterial to the question as to whether the Governor can discharge his duties. Then there are the allegations against the Lt. Governor and the Democrats don’t have nearly the enthusiasm they demonstrated when Dr Ford accused Brett Kavanaugh. Sen’s Booker and Harris did not have their best moments during the committee to send the SCOTUS nomination forward.

These are my observations on the morning of 6FEB19

One caveat; all bets are off if Trump doesn’t finish his first term.

The speech last night was a phony Trump who can read off a teleprompter and surround himself with sympathetic American heroes hoping it rubs off on himself.

Trump will very very soon return to form and have no WWII veterans or widows or children to boost him up and negate his vitriol and his general bitchiness which is on display the other 364 days of the year. He has terrible impulse control and will soon return to being donated by his darker angels and tendencies.

This speech will soon fade and mean nothing.

Keep in mind that on the same day he went for this appeal to American unity - he was his normal self at an earlier lunch meeting where he tore into his opponents on the other side of the aisle calling them names - as his his usual method.

You cannot be the Great Divider on the other 364 days of the year and then pretend to open your arms in a sing of peaceful embrace as the Great Uniter on one night of the year. It does not work that way. NO - this speech is meaningless compared to the daily reality that is Trump.

I wasn’t really referring to the SOTU, more the Republican endorsement/applause. After the first major speech in Feb. 2017, everyone was falling over themselves about how Trump had “become President.”
