We are quickly coming upon the next presidential election. It is only 2 years away! What direction do you think that America will turn in it's next election? What Candidates do you see in the Republican and Democratic parties? Who will win?

As Galen said the election is 2 years away so its hard to tell.....I think if the election were held today it would be McCain against Hillary and MCCain would win in one of the biggest landslides in history maybe carrying every state..............

I think Juliani would win if he could get the nomination but that will never happen...................

Regardless if they turn to Dems or the GOP the direction will still be misguided and a vote for no responsibility. The nation will be still in debt passing more of the burden to the future generations. The media will still be the 4th branch of government. Corporate America will use its money to thwart votes against their interests--especially third parties. Dems and GOP again will vote racist. Both parties will not unite. To put faith in America that they will do the right thing is a pipe dream.

I see it being a Mark Warner/ John McCain showdown. With of course Warner being the winner. Warner has all of the tools to be the winner. High profile Moderate Democrat from a conservative Red State in which he won the governorship of. He also left office there with a 76% approval rating bringing Virginia out of the red on their balance sheets and making Virginia one of the most Technologically sound states in the Union. I can see Warner doing that for the country. he does have a history of attracting Moderate republicans and working with them. And we all know that if Virginia goes other states will Follow I forsee him winning the traditional Democratic States along with Ohio, WV, Virginia, Georgia and possibly some other big ones that republicans need in order to win. that's my opinion.

I like Warner too but there is one huge problem with your scenario....Warner is a moderate and the democratic party is controlled by the far left wing base....These are the people who vote in the primarys...............Warner will never win a primary...........

sad but true. However, one can always hope that the Democratic party realizes that he is our best chance of winning the white house.

There is no way you can get around your base.......Take 2004 for example.....You had 9 candidates 7 Liberals and 2 Moderates in Edwards and Leiberman and although Edwards came in second he pretty much got skunked.......Leiberman did not win one primary and I might have voted for him had he won the nomination...........

I know I had the same problem in my run for president of the College Democrats at my former college. I won by a narrow margin but I never betrayed my Moderate to Conservative stance on social issues, yes I am a pragmatist. In fact I appealed to the intelligence of many to win it after that i had no problem getting re-elected for another term since I did sucha good job in the first one. So even though the odds are high that he wont, I think that he has enough Liberal leanings to pull it off and appease the Liberal base just enough to get the nomination without truely compromising his own moderate stance just as I did with my own election.

Well rumors are flying around about Pat Buchanon for the Republicans and Hilary for the Democrates. But honestly I'd rather see some more moderate candidates on both sides of the usual line.

I think people are fed up with right wing, left wing, chicken wing politics... I know I am.

Same goes for the republicans. Probably the hardest part of a McCain campaign would be telling Anne "I'm the only real republican" Coulter and Jerry Fallwel to take the stick out of their *** and shutup.

If he doesn't, and the GOP nominates another ultra-conservative it could be very different in the end.

Anyway, yes, it's still a long way off.

Pat Buchanan will not run and has no chance to win the nomination in 2008........

We shall see, I personally believe if the primarys were held today McCain would win the nomin ation in a landslide........

All I know is that I hope the Dem's don't run Hillery. It's two-years away I know, and the American public is as fickle as a pickle. But whoever wins ain't gonna be a Republican by all indicators today. The only thing scarier than a present day republican winning the Whitehouse again is Hillery winning the Whitehouse.

This next election is the Democrat's to lose. And lose they will if they run Hillery. They could run just about anybody else and almost be guaranteed a victory. Even without a plan or a direction or a clue, just simply not being in the GOP is all the reason America needs to elect them.

You guys think I'm tough on Bush? Just wait and see how down and dirty I can be if another Clinton gets in the WH. Especially that flip-flop, any way the wind blows, plastic, Atilla The Hun, carpetbagger, Hillery Keg-Leg Clinton. I absolutely cannot stand that woman.

What do you think about former Virginia Governor Mark Warner? My personal Favorite.

Well it's just a rumor I heard. But I knew Buchanan wouldn't have chance... Heck if he's going to run again then David Duke ought to consider it again too.

Anyway I'd like to see McCain run. Though, I don't know how many times he's said he will never go for president. But he could have changed his mind since the last time I heard him say that.

I want Ms. Clinton to run as well but... If she loses I'd like her to not respond to the idea of a recount or disputing the outcome of the election. That'll just make the Democrats look even more shrill than they already are.

Ultimately for the Dems, I'd like to see Wesley Clark try again. Can't think of anyone stronger for the Democrats and hey if he wants to run Republican that be great too. I just think a former NATO general would be a good leader for the country in these times.

I can't stand Clark........Did you know that Clinton fired him? He was a wannabe Republican who changed parites to run as a dem......... When it comes to running for president he is way in over his head........

As far as McCain goes he is running........

Colin Powell would be a great president I think. He has a level head.

Mark Warner is a great choice for the democratic party.
I would vote for him if he ever got the nomination.
There's not much mud that anyone can really sling at him from what I've seen...

There's a little info about him here:
