SALT LAKE CITY — A person infected with Zika has died in Utah, and while the exact cause is unclear, authorities said Friday it marks the first death related to the virus in the continental U.S.
The unidentified Salt Lake County resident contracted the virus while traveling abroad to an area with a Zika outbreak, health officials said.
1st death related to Zika virus seen in continental U.S.

Contrary to the beliefs of some, Zika virus can kill adults, as it can cause guillain-barré syndrome, which paralyzes individuals, sometimes killing them.

Does this effect the Olympics?

Compassion for the person who died. The story isn't that big of a deal though, as they were traveling from an endemic area. They weren't infected in the U.S.

Brazil has other problems that make the Olympics seem non-sensical, like barely having enough drinking water in two of their major cities to last the summer, one of which has contamination issues.

Why is the country hosting a multi-billion dollar event when its infrastructure needs major work? Oh I know... some rich people want to have a banquet.

Quite a few golfers are pulling out of the Olympics. (Rory Mcllroy, Jason Day, Dustin Johnson, Marc Leishman, Louis Oosthuizen, Shane Lowry, Charl Schwartzel)

It probably won't prevent the Olympics in Brasil any more than AIDS stopped the Rumble in the Jungle.

Was Aids even known back then? The Rumble in the Jungle is like 1971, right?

HIV is much older than 1970, but you are right that it did not gain the public's notice till the 1980s. Travel was picking up as of the 1950s and the incubation period is lengthy.

They should move the Olympics to a saferr, less violent place.

Like Lebanon.
