18 WAYS TO BE A GOOD LIBERAL

1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion
on demand.

2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.

3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding
citizens aremore of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Iran or Chinese and North Korean communists.

4. You have to believe that there was no art before federal funding.

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by
cyclical changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms
driving SUV's.

6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial, but being homosexual is natural.

7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal
funding.

8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach 4th-graders
how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.

9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but PETA
activists do.

10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually
doing something to earn it.

11. You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25 million of his
own money to make "The Passion of the Christ" for financial gain only.

12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain
parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain
parts of the Constitution.

13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are
too high.

14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are
more and Thomas Edison.

15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but
racial quotas and set-asides are not.

16. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked
anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in
charge.

17. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag
queens and transvestites should be constitutionally protected, and manger
scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

18. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast,
right-wing conspiracy.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Oops, can't do that either!

How would a GOP diehard know what it means to be a liberal?
Liberals did not wage a war against christmas, that was your buddy O'Rieliey; everything else you tought here is also just the same rediculour nonsense.
Teusday represented America's complete and total rejection of the mentality that you have displayed here. Welcome to post Nov. 7 death of the neocons and bushneviks. DRIP

No the truth is it is exactly this type of bullshit slander that America is sick and tired of and why you guys lost in a landslide. Really opposite from what you were preaching a few weeks back about Allen winning over Webb, and why you are now wearing the miserable failure.

Oops, can't do that either!

You really have no clue. Do you actually read things that liberals or moderate liberals here, write, or do you just stick your head in the sand and only pay attention to what your partisan, groupthink, closed mind tells you? OK, NP, I have a challenge for you. Identify some of the liberals on this site and then let them post either 'yes' or 'no' to each of these 18 statements. If the majority of these posters don't answer more than 6 'yes', than I would request that you retract this incorrect and purely partisan, opinionated, ridiculously extremist, and non-substatiated post.

How about it?

Of course they are. How else do you explain the fact that global temperatures are at the highest level in 12,000 years, and are INCREASING at a faster rate than any time in at least a hundred thousand years? It's just a coincidence that it happened at the same time as the Industrial Revolution?

I don't think many people of any political stripe still believe that gender roles are artificial. Psychologists have pretty much conclusively proven that men and women differ in more than just their anatomy.

7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.

Of course it is. Are you telling me that a focused government effort to prevent the spread of AIDS would do nothing? It's worked wonderfully in Brazil.

If you want to have a gay pride parade spending your own money, it's constitutionally protected free speech. If you want to have a manger scene at Christmas spending your own money, it's constitutionally protected free speech.

Now if you expect me, the taxpayer, to pay for it, that's a different matter entirely. Personally I don't have a big problem with minor religious displays on public property like a nativity scene at Christmas, but I can certainly understand why some people would be offended.

Generally it's the conservatives who speak of a vast left-wing conspiracy against them, although they'd never use that phrase. You know, the ones who think that the media is out to get them, that all of the moderate Democrats just elected to Congress were just "pretending" so that they could sneak their liberalism under the radar, and that The Homosexual Agenda is coming to a pre-school near you.

Navy:

See posts like these are what give you no credibility on these boards. The scary thing is, I think that you absolutely believe that each of those things that you made up are accurate where none of them are.
Yes....there are philosophical differences between liberals and conservatives....but you do yourself and conservatives a disservice when you post outrageous rhetoric like this.

Just for one example....

Where you talk about gay pride parades and manger scenes:

I don't know of ONE liberal who would claim that gay pride parades are "protected speech" while "manger scenes" are not.

You try to perpetuate the myth that "Liberals" are not religious.....well guess what.....again, my friend....you are just wrong.
I, as well as many of my neighbors put up manger scenes during the holidays. I also visit a live manger scene at a nearby Presbyterian church every year (although I am not Presbyterian).... I enjoy seeing religous Christmas symbols in retail establishments.
However, put religious Christmas symbols in City Hall.....yes, I would have a problem with that because the Government should stick to government not religion. And that doesn't make me anti-religion......something your radical right friends understand but can't stomach.

....oh....and yes....I have attended Gay Pride parades as well and find them entertaining.....because they embodie much more than "drag queens" (the only thing that the "liberal" media tends to show- --because of entertainment value)...gay pride parades also show gay clergy, gay lawyers, gay cops, gay parents, support groups, .....)

What your post fails to show is the biggest difference between liberals and radical right-wingers (note...not "Conservatives"....right-wingers).

Liberals are for allowing inclusion of all groups (Note: Liberals don't say just because you have the right to be Gay...everyone must be gay....or that just because you have the right to choose to terminate a pregnancy....everyone should do so).

Right-wingers insist on shoving their agenda down everyone's throats. Its our way and the only way.

1) Saying there are no moderates on this board is as bizarre as your OP. Or perhaps you don't really understand what a moderate is.

2) You missed most of the point of my post. I'll try again with a slight modification.

Now if you want to include Kandahar, he agreed with 2 of your statements.

So, do you accept my challenge?

I didn't realize we were running presidential elections NP:rofl
Your boy bush barely won by the skin of his teeth in Florida in 2000, a lead of only a few hundred in a nation of 300 million.
You republicans have class? Is that why you make such a pathetic excuse of a thread? The constant 'what're the dems plans now?' after just 4 days of being elected and not even sworn in yet?
Is that why the GOP socked itself in your mouths when you said no paper trail for atm voting in VA - disallowing any form of recount?
Plz, drop the pretending to take the high road show, just as before the election, no one believes the crap you spew.

Plz, drop the pretending to take the high road show, just as before the election, no one believes the crap you spew.

No. Sadly, even those who desperately wanted to believe it, can't anymore.
The GOP has brutally violated the trust of its constituents.
Even though the white evangelical working class supported the GOP in good faith, voted against their own interests and for big business interests and the interests of the rich, and all they asked in return was adherence to traditional moral values... the GOP kicked them in the teeth. It let them down.
The GOP is the party of disgrace and disappointment.
That is the reason it will not regain control for decades, if ever... it can't, until the bitterness of betrayal has faded in the minds of Americans.

What does it mean if you have read item #14 a half dozen times and it still looks like a fragment rather than complete thought?

Oh, good god, I figured it out! Liberals proof read!!

How despicable.

What?????

I'm not claiming to be moderate. I am undoubtedly one of the most liberal on this site....so what's your point?

The point that I was making is that you live in this bizarre world in your head where you have a very distorted view of the world.

I am very liberal....yet, I would gladly fight for your right to have your religious beliefs, your anti-choice beliefs, etc.....because this is America.

Thank God that we live in a country that is big enough and free enough that we can all have different beliefs.

See... Navy....Liberals understand this......Right-wingers want everyone to have THEIR view......share THEIR religious traditions/beliefs......

I have no problem with right-wingers having their views.....as long as they allow others to have their views as well.....but THAT is the problem........

:rofl I bet you don't even realize what you just said... The fact is that the Dems won in states like Montana and Virginia (do you realize just how right-wing those states are?) because people like you put out things like this. Congratulations on taking your party, the party of the neocons, out of power. Enjoy the next two years!

But I won't make my own list about you, NP, because I have class. Unlike the Republicans.

The dems barely won in Montana and Va.......Both were within the margin of error......Va. is far from a really red state although Bush did carry it in 2004 but it has had democratic governors for years........

If you have class I don't want it.......

Then I guess it's a good thing that Bush got such an overwhelming 500-vote mandate in Florida in 2000... Who knows what would have happened then? President Gore probably would have made gay marriage mandatory and given your kids free cocaine on the playgrounds...at least before he surrendered to the Taliban.

OK, let's try this, NP. I think I've noticed that you are a Steelers fan. :et's say that the Steelers won the Super Bowl 21-20. You were discussing this wonderful victory with a Steeler-hater, and he said, 'big deal...they won by 1 point. Fairly pathetic and no much of a victory.'

In which of the following ways would you respond?

1) Yeah, I know. Only 1 point. They really didn't deserve it and it is kinda pathetic.

Or...

2) Um...doesn't really matter by how much they won, point is, they won, and by doing so showed that they deserved it.

So?

Off topic a little..........Have you seen Gore lately? He looks like he weighs about 500 lbs and is about to implode........

Can we party first? The Radical neocons and bushnevik apologetics are no more!!

Who cares? The Dems still won both states. You go, Jim Webb! I voted for you, as did 60% of the people who live in my county. ;)
