Why would anyone read them all at the link above? Grabien News accumulates stories from unknown sources with unknown reliability. I'm sure you have managed to entertain some people here.

None of them are as funny as "smocking gun" though.

Any standards are out the window now.

There’s always been bias but there used to be, at least, some attempt to cover it. This last election, however, media felt it had some sort of greater calling to attempt to defeat Trump and all pretense of objectivity was abandoned in favor of advocacy. And yes, before anyone says anything, the same is true with FOX in its attempt to defend Trump but I feel that was largely reactive to what was being reported about Trump.

Why would anyone read them all at the link above? Grabien News accumulates stories from unknown sources with unknown reliability. I'm sure you have managed to entertain some people here.

You do realize that each "story" on that list provided is sourced in the article to the actual articles it says they come from? Including CNN, NYT, NBC etc etc. Are you saying that the NYT's, CNN et al are an "unknown reliability"?

That list is at least partially FoS! To wit:
11 — CNN Flies to Thailand to Interview Prostitute Who Claims to Have Dirt on Trump. (March 5, 2018)

The network ... sent a reporter to Thailand, where a prostitute claimed to have the goods on the Trump camp's alleged collusion with Russia. The catch? The woman, Anastasia Vashukevich, who is also a self-described “sex coach,” is imprisoned, and hoped America (and/or CNN) would offer her asylum in exchange for her story. CNN’s Ivan Watson appeared miffed she wouldn’t offer up any of her apparent intel without first being sprung from jail, and thus not much came from his assignment. As of August 31st, the New York Times reported she’s still in jail, but is now facing a much longer jail sentence after her bizarre bid for freedom “badly backfired.”

Whoever added that item to the list disregarded all sorts of context:

  • CNN correspondent Ivan Watson is based in Hong Kong.
    • As such, Thailand is part of his "beat." He covers South Eastern and Central Asia.
    • Mr. Watson likely flew from Hong Kong (or somewhere else in the region) to Thailand, roughly a 2.5 hour flight.
      • Inasmuch as he covers the region he does, Mr. Watson likely flies to many places, quite likely every week given that Hong Kong is a relatively small place (geographically).
      • Flights between Hong Kong and Bangkok are frequent and cheap (~$100, give or take).
    • I have no idea, and neither do the authors of the OP-er's rubric article, whether he flew there just to speak with Ms. Vashukevich and Alexander Kirillov (her boyfriend) or whether he had other/additional reasons for going there.
  • Vashukevich and Kirillov sent to the US Embassy letters that attracted enough attention that not only Watson, but also FBI agents attempted to contact them.
    • No surprise the FBI wanted to talk to her seeing as she'd previously published "footage ... of a 2016 meeting on a private yacht between [Oleg] Deripaska [, who's been sanctioned by the US Treasury Dept,] and Russian deputy prime minister Sergey Prikhodko, during which the two men could be heard discussing Russia's poor relationship with the United States."

Speculative? Yes, and neither CNN nor anyone else who reported on the matter intimated more than that. Speculative as it may be, however, that quality's initial existence doesn't mean one shouldn't follow-up to find out whether there's any "there" there. Sometimes there is, and sometimes there isn't; and sometimes there is, but one can't get to it. Be that as it may, it'd be stupid not to do the best one can to see where the "trail" leads.
  • What exactly is "the goods?" The woman claimed to have evidence re: Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Her specific assertions were that she has "photo-video-audio of crymes [sic] of Russian government."
  • By what reckoning does the article's author posit that the woman expected CNN to offer her asylum?
  • What of Watson's remarks in the articles he submitted or the video shows him to have been "miffed?"
  • Contrary to what the blurb above asserts, the most recent reporting on the woman doesn't indicate she has been sentenced; thus what she's facing are more charges than the immigration one with which she was initially charged.

I don't care that you want to "rag" on "this or that" news organization, but at least exhibit the integrity of refraining from citing distillate third-party content that holds up when subjected to scrutiny. Furthermore, since when does anyone criticize someone for following a lead?

A million thanks.

The American media have disgraced themselves since January, 2017.

And yet a certain failing magazine wants us to think that "journalists" are heroes, so they were called the "Persons of the Year."

Nonsense.

Speak for yourself, the media disgraced themselves since the 2000 elections, that's when I knew that all bets were off when it came to them, and the media's coverage of trump should have been completely expected.

So the next time you cite a story, or link to any source for a post. Anyone can just say that it's unreliable, or any other nomenclature they can think of and it would be a completely viable way to shut your post down?

Despite the fact that the sources here are link to their original stories and those site that support them.

The joke was more along the line of how desperate it seemed to just chase this one particular lead down. Without looking into it all the way. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they sprung her out of lockup and decided to make a story about whatever she said either way. But what's done is done I suppose.

Read them all at the link above!! It seems the media has totally lost their way.
Any standards are out the window now.

I stopped after the first "media moment". The Daily Dot talks about O'Rourke's Instagram account, and you tinkle your panties.

Pathetic.

Throwing the baby out with the bath water to justify how ****ty team Trump is and how deplorable FOx news and such is.
Yeah, that's gonna work.
And I thought for a second it wasn't gonna be just another partisan whine-fest from the snowflakes.

You trying to throw the baby out with the bath water is on topic. Don't cry about staying on topic AND get it wrong...it takes your post from dumb to "really freaking dumb".

A statistically insignificant, cherry-picked group of headlines, leads you to claim this:
It seems the media has totally lost their way. Any standards are out the window now.

The entire media has lost their way? ANY standards are out the window now?

In what world does that many a lick of sense?

Actually what I am saying is that bits and pieces of stories reported elsewhere are gathered here and described in rather untruthful ways. For instance, the NYT's did not report that Kavanaugh once threw ice at someone. They reported an interview with a friend of his, who recounted the story of Brett throwing the contents of his glass into the face of another patron at a bar, where Brett was inebriated. Dumbing down that incident to "throwing ice" sounds like an innocent snowball fight out on the college quad. And ignores the total implication of the original quoted "source." Grabien's version of ice throwing is most likely more appreciated by many posters here, but that does not change the fact that they are not passing on legitimate stories. I stand by my original statement. Totally unreliable news source.
