They'd be wrong. By the 1920s, the US already had large numbers of immigrants -- Irish, Italian, German, Jewish, Catholic, Mexican, Chinese and so on. Again, many of those Europeans weren't seen as "white" at the time. That's why they passed xenophobic laws in the first place. Needless to say, many of those immigrants were crucial to the US gaining economic and military dominance.
So what? Almost all immigrants are assimilated within 1-2 generations. There's tons of research on that.
Whatever, dude. It's just a fact that, at this time, the Democratic Party is more diverse than the Republican Party; and that the US is becoming less white, and relying more and more on white grievance and anti-democratic measures.
The longer the right clings to its racism and xenophobia, the more likely they are to drive away the non-white groups.
Good news! Immigration and diversity are key parts of America's history, value and achievements.
Sure, as long as you weren't black, Chinese, Jewish, Catholic, Irish, German, Italian, LGBT....
Was the US "united" behind the Civil Rights Movement? Or the segregationists?
In reality, much of that "European Christian Core" was due to non-Western influences and/or immigrants that the xenophobes hated and wanted to keep out. E.g. Jazz, the Harlem Renaissance, Mexican muralists weren't exclusively Western. Immigrants and 2nd generation made up most of the AbEx, Pop Art and other movements at that time.
You're confusing "Leave It To Beaver" with the reality of America in the 50s and 60s.
lol... What nonsense. Again, immigrants to the US assimilate very quickly; there is tons of research showing that happening over and over again.
No, it's just rooted in racism and white grievance.
News flash! America's political polarization isn't a result of immigration.
Quoting racists to make your point... Classy.
For 350 years after Jamestown the immigration laws of this country were written with one
goal, to preserve the European character of this country. Ever since the late 1970's the fortunes
of this country have tended downward as it becomes a house divided.
For 350 years after Jamestown up until 1965 Immigration laws were written with one goal
to preserve the European character of the country. The most destructive lies ever
witnessed in this country were uttered by Ted Kennedy on the Senate floor in 1965.
Ted Kennedy:
'Contrary to the charges in some quarters this bill will not inundate America with
the most populated & deprived nations of Africa & Asia.'
Senator Ted Kennedy, asserted that the bill would not affect US demographic mix.
The 1965 act brought in the poorest of the poor from around the globe. Non-English-speaking
peasants from wildly backward cultures could be counted on to be dependent on
democrat policies uo to this day!
The immigrants before 1965 were almost all white, all European and almost all were Christian.
'After each wave of immigration there were long periods of little or no immigration
giving time for the Americans to assimilate the newcomers.
Their children passed through deeply patriotic schools where they were
immersed in the language, literature, history & traditions uniquely American.
Since around 1990 when the ‘Immigration Act of 1965 began to
bear fruit schools have been converted to the point that American
history is often taught as a series of crimes against people of color Today’s
immigrants are rarely European, rarely Christian & rarely white.
Today's elites who promote the flood of immigartion ignore the crucial elements that
made America immigration work for over 300 years.
