What on Earth are you blabbering about? We were talking about illegals pouring nonstop over our southern border and Democrats refusing to put a stop to it.
According to the OP there's record numbers being stopped at the border.
So who's bullshitting here, the OP or you?

For every one stopped, 9 make it through.

lol... Do you actually have any facts to back up that claim?

Do you really not understand how these days, most of the people crossing are deliberately surrendering to the Border Patrol right after crossing, because they're applying for asylum?

You speak of “illegals” yet you propose breaking the law, and ignore our legal obligations towards these people. Should we strafe Cubans coming here by boat as well? Obviously you are not serious.

Let’s hope not.

In June, Border Patrol agents encountered 188,800 people, the highest monthly number in at least a decade. That brought to one million the number of border apprehensions in the first nine months of the fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30.

Agents apprehended 55,805 family members and 15,253 unaccompanied minors in June, up from 44,639 and 14,158 in May. Just 14 percent of the families intercepted last month were expelled under the public health order.

The migrants know the American government will take care of their kids for months or years even. This saves them a lot of money.

The American tax payer is being played.

188,800 people were encountered by Border Patrol in June alone!

They're all coming for the money. You can make in a Month in America what you can make all year in Guatemala.

Illegal immigration is the #2 worry among voters, right after COVID19. You risk losing a lot of votes by mismanaging illegal immigration.

What would you do to stop the flow?

If they're coming here for jobs, you get rid of the jobs. Put all the ICE agents to work doing spot checks of businesses and harshly punish any that are caught employing illegal immigrants. $1000 per employee per day they were employed there. The flow of illegal immigrants will dry up real quick when there are no jobs here for them any more.

That's the only way to do it. However, there's no political will to do something like that.

Republicans depend on cheap labor for their profits.

States have already tried that. It doesn't work.

Currently, companies can be fined up to $22,927 per employee. And yet, companies still hire undocumented immigrants.

Sorry not sorry, but... that's not going to work.

Eisenhower tried mass deportations in the 50s. It didn't work.

Pete Wilson tried to ban undocumented immigrants from public schools and non-emergency health care. Not only did it fail, it likely doomed Republicans in California for generations.

Trump tried overtly draconian tactics, including raids on employers. It didn't make even a tiny dent in the undocumented immigrant population.

It's not that "laws aren't stiff enough." It's not "laws aren't enforced enough." It's that on a fundamental level, you don't understand the incentives, and fail to recognize that most people don't want to live in a racist police state.

Did you even read the article?

The Biden administration announced late Monday that it would begin swiftly removing migrant families that immigration officials determined did not qualify for asylum after an initial screening at the southwestern border.

The policy, known as expedited removal, is a return to a measure that has been used by Democratic and Republican administrations to deter unauthorized immigration. Asylum officers interview families in a fast-tracked screening process to determine if they have a “credible fear of persecution.”
the same exact process my husband and his family went through and were granted credible fear at their interview and in one case, hearing....it is indeed a return to the regular asylum process that has been accepted law for decades.

The root cause is rampant crime driven by the US War on Drugs. End drug prohibition and cut the legs out from under the gangs and cartels.
well, sort of...you have to also deal with the fact that some of these countries have leaders that are unwilling or unable to assist crime victims or solve crimes...

So, you're saying that if they come here illegally they aren't illegals. That's the trouble with you guys. You say everyone coming here is an immigrant, whether they come here legally or illegally. In other words, you have a welcome sign at the border and encourage them to come here in droves, which is what is happening.
Doesn't matter if they come here legally or not, or what you or I call them. If they claim they are in danger in their country, they have rights and the US has obligations under US law and US-ratified treaties. This has been the case since the law was passed in 1980 and the treaties ratified In different years, the last during Reagan's time. Those are the welcome signs. (Of course, Trump didn't care about such things since he is sort of an "illegal" too.)

If the current situation bothers you, write your representatives and tell them to repeal the law and abrogate the treaties. If you want the names of these measures and the relevant language, let me know.

I'm completely supportive of more legal immigration. In my view, implementing eVerify will help make that possible by cutting down on illegal immigration which reduces our ability to host more legal immigrants. There are lots of people around the world who would love to come to America to work, and unfortunately we can't take them all in. I'd rather we pick and choose the best-qualified applicants, instead of just taking whatever randos manage to get into the country and evade USCIS.
to do that you have to also in unison deal with the fact we have millions here that also have mixed status families....spouses that are US citizens by birth or naturalization, children born here ...etc....

That is a separate issue, but assuming that legal (regulated and taxed) OTC markets for highly addictive and often lethal drugs would replace the criminal distribution networks is doubtful.

What percentage of illegal immigrants do you imagine are members of gangs and/or cartels?

A small percentage.

A much much larger percentage are people whose lives are threatened by the gangs or cartels that have taken over their countries.

No, my suggestion has never really been tried. Sure, companies technically could be fined for hiring illegal immigrants but the number which actually are is vanishingly small. Of course financial penalties aren't a deterrent if they're never enforced.

those unfilled jobs don't just disappear....when you have people working until they burn out and quit from companies because there aren't enough employees, then you start having major issues...stores, restaurants, other businesses are actually closing for a certain amount of hours because they do not have enough employees to run the place....to add to my income I work a retail job...they would love to make me work 12 to 14 hours a day...but I would walk and they know it....I don't need the job, they need me...I have the job to give me money for extra stuff...and others that need the job might stay, but only until they find something that pays more and has reasonable hours....and benefits... they have a perpetual shortage since just after the pandemic started...and many are walking because they are burning them out and not paying very well or providing benefits..there is no win for the employee so they hit the door.

Yep, and that's why there will never be anything meaningful done about illegal immigration, because neither party actually wants to do anything about it. Both of them just use it as a talking point to rile their voters up.

Also republicans, given their party's orientation, tend to disfavor penalizing businesses -- sort of analogous in a way to their recent refusal to back better IRS enforcement. They also probably would not get behind the notion of a national ID card, which some suggest could help employers higher only legal workers. As a nation, I believe we are caught between our historic addiction to cheap labor (since 1619, in various forms, legal and illegal) and the lower prices that it brings, and our periodic complaints about those that perform it. Trump used illegals as a political tool, but doubt he did much policy wise to make the jobs they do more attractive to legals.

yep, they had every opportunity for 4 years to go after businesses and did not do that....never mind that Trump had an illegal, Guatemalan woman making his bed for 5 years, until he was caught.

The key is to make “job creators“ self-report - see post #2.

It has -- unless, again, you literally want us all to live in a racist police state.

Do you have some proof that there have ever actually been serious efforts at enforcing laws against hiring illegal immigrants?

They'd be wrong. By the 1920s, the US already had large numbers of immigrants -- Irish, Italian, German, Jewish, Catholic, Mexican, Chinese and so on. Again, many of those Europeans weren't seen as "white" at the time. That's why they passed xenophobic laws in the first place. Needless to say, many of those immigrants were crucial to the US gaining economic and military dominance.

So what? Almost all immigrants are assimilated within 1-2 generations. There's tons of research on that.

Whatever, dude. It's just a fact that, at this time, the Democratic Party is more diverse than the Republican Party; and that the US is becoming less white, and relying more and more on white grievance and anti-democratic measures.

The longer the right clings to its racism and xenophobia, the more likely they are to drive away the non-white groups.

Good news! Immigration and diversity are key parts of America's history, value and achievements.

Sure, as long as you weren't black, Chinese, Jewish, Catholic, Irish, German, Italian, LGBT....

Was the US "united" behind the Civil Rights Movement? Or the segregationists?

In reality, much of that "European Christian Core" was due to non-Western influences and/or immigrants that the xenophobes hated and wanted to keep out. E.g. Jazz, the Harlem Renaissance, Mexican muralists weren't exclusively Western. Immigrants and 2nd generation made up most of the AbEx, Pop Art and other movements at that time.

You're confusing "Leave It To Beaver" with the reality of America in the 50s and 60s.

lol... What nonsense. Again, immigrants to the US assimilate very quickly; there is tons of research showing that happening over and over again.

No, it's just rooted in racism and white grievance.

News flash! America's political polarization isn't a result of immigration.

Quoting racists to make your point... Classy.
For 350 years after Jamestown the immigration laws of this country were written with one
goal, to preserve the European character of this country. Ever since the late 1970's the fortunes
of this country have tended downward as it becomes a house divided.

For 350 years after Jamestown up until 1965 Immigration laws were written with one goal
to preserve the European character of the country. The most destructive lies ever
witnessed in this country were uttered by Ted Kennedy on the Senate floor in 1965.

Ted Kennedy:
'Contrary to the charges in some quarters this bill will not inundate America with
the most populated & deprived nations of Africa & Asia.'
Senator Ted Kennedy, asserted that the bill would not affect US demographic mix.
The 1965 act brought in the poorest of the poor from around the globe. Non-English-speaking
peasants from wildly backward cultures could be counted on to be dependent on
democrat policies uo to this day!

The immigrants before 1965 were almost all white, all European and almost all were Christian.
'After each wave of immigration there were long periods of little or no immigration
giving time for the Americans to assimilate the newcomers.
Their children passed through deeply patriotic schools where they were
immersed in the language, literature, history & traditions uniquely American.

Since around 1990 when the ‘Immigration Act of 1965 began to
bear fruit schools have been converted to the point that American
history is often taught as a series of crimes against people of color Today’s
immigrants are rarely European, rarely Christian & rarely white.

Today's elites who promote the flood of immigartion ignore the crucial elements that
made America immigration work for over 300 years.

It's like this, you shoot a few people up in the beginning (many die anyway during the trip) and when the word gets out, and the lefty media tells the world how horrible we are, then illegals coming here is exponentially reduced, actually leading to fewer deaths overall once that word gets out. And, we can use drone bombs with our name on them to bomb directly in front of caravans coming here to discourage them. If that doesn't have the desired effect we bomb closer and closer to the caravans until they get the message. If they don't get the message then we just flat out bomb the caravan itself. Again, the media would be a big help in getting the word out and we can count on them for that. Right now the media have told these people that the welcome mat is out.
I hope you intended this to be the joke that it is.

These run away children should be returned to their home countries so they can be reunited with their parents.
