If a party cannot win by fair voting, then I guess they will cheat?

Bring back a paper trail, it makes sense and is about the only way a reasonably democrtic method of vote can be trusted.

Did you see the HBO program last night about the machines? (Hacking Democracy)

Diebold said no one could tamper with the mem cards...THATS BULLSHIT!

I work in electronics...I know for a fact "If a man can build it another can hack it".

Boy, just can't wait for Teusday lol, it's going to be a fiasco.

I would guess that the Lawyers are in for enormous Xmas bonuses over these problems.
Why is it that THIS administration ALWAYS engages A$$ before BRAIN (oh, ok, I get it, NO BRAIN).

This may very well be a History inducing election......Glad I did my absentee ballot already. We are about to truly test our Nations ability to be a Democratic Republic.

... I think that this article may not be entirely correct in its claims. Diebold machines are pieces of junk that are easy to hack, but smart cards are a different story. I have no idea who manufactures these ones, but I know there are smart cards that are incredibly secure. They are not perfect, but they certainly cannot be hacked in 4 days with "off the the shelf equipment." The electronic security is high enough that hacking it in 4 days is pretty much impossible. The physical security is probably even more difficult, as the chips contain "self destruct" devices that will wipe the chip if tampered with. Again, not perfect, but getting through that in 4 days is pretty close to impossible.

They might be using unencrypted cards, or crappy ones made by a lousy company, but I still find the claims circumspect.

You’re not going to find a self-destruct device imbedded inside the card. What you might find is a method of locking the card so that any attempts to gain entrance would lock out the cycle rate.
All smart cards have the same basic interfaces. Inut, output, clock, reset, power and ground. If you have the ISO for the device then you have all the hardware information you need to build an interface device.

Next if you have the source code using VB it’s not impossible to write a basic program in one night or less.
I for one am not capably of this but I do know people who can.
Writing code is like a 2nd language to them.

and last...this is the really sad part...
Here you go from diebold it self...

I was talking about trying to crack open the chip to get around an electronic encryption, obviously just reading it is easy if their is no protection on it. And self destruct was a easy way to describe it, its not like the card blows up mission impossible style.

I didn't think that diebold could be so stupid in creating their keys. I knew about the flaws on the machines, but this is just pathetic. What the hell were they thinking?

Lets go to all the trouble of getting a secure card, and then not load any protections on it. Our next product will be a 4 inch think steel door with a pick-proof lock, but the hinges will be on the outside.

incompetent morons.
