Yep kinda like what you do, lets see, it's not the teachers fault for our failing educational system, after all if one kid gets a good education then everyone can right ? So it's the students or his parents fault if they don't … isn't that what you said?
So if one person can become rich in this country, by that same standard everyone can, and if they don't, then isn't it that persons fault and no one else's?
If one person comes off the welfare rolls and makes a comfortable living for themselves, then those that don't only have themselves to blame correct. It's no one else's fault

actually poor people tend to do this more than rich people do; just as poor societies cannot afford clean waste removal and treatment.recycling, after all, is a luxury service.
I don't listen to Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh or any of the rest of the wingie people. I do my own homework and research. Public pensions happen to be a hot button for me which is why I speak so vehemently about them. Many teachers in suburban Chicago make more money than the Governor of our state. I'm not outraged by teachers making $100K and less. I'm outraged by teachers making $100K and more. And retiring at age 55 with pensions that cover, many times, 75% of their salaries.

I'm not going to go looking...but if you PM Redress, I'm sure she'll confirm. Look, I have a very strong opinion on this. I've done my homework. I've written letters to the editor and had them published in the Chicago Tribune and the Daily Herald. You're not going to change it. The system is fundamentally flawed. I've done my homework. And either you haven't done yours, or you are the recipient of a public pension.
Maggie--- sorry - but I do not know it. I was a teachers union building representative and union official for over 20 years and saw many teachers drummed out and fired for good cause. Its simply a matter of a bad teacher, a good administrator who knows how to perform their job function, and following the contract which exists between the Board and the Union. Some administrators may have their own professional organization, but I assure you, they are not in the teachers union nor are they represented by the same bargaining unit. Its a basic and serious conflict of interest.
A link which shows that Administrators are NOT a member of the teachers union? You are asking me to prove a negative? Amazing. Go to any teachers contract with any Board of Education you want to read. Your choice. Tell me if you can find that school administrators are members of the union. Its a contradiction in terms.

Are you really that ignorant? If so, the education system has failed you,and you it. You stand as an example of what I have been talking about. I have never excused the bad teachers, nor will I excuse bad parents or lazy students. I have always felt that the system can be improved, but as it is, it is adequate, IF the good teachers have good raw material delivered to them by the parents.
My wife can tell you about the kids who are plenty smart, but get hooked on drugs, and some commit suicide.
Our society is ill and needs treatment, and all you want to do is crucify the one profession that benefits us the most.

I have all the necessary skills to keep a teaching job (aside from the piece of paper saying I have a degree in education). Now, whether or not that means I have all the necessary skills to actually TEACH is a different question entirely.

I think, for the most part, you are absolutely right. People never gave it a thought until Wisconsin's Democrats left the state and drew a target on teachers' backs for the news media.
The thing is though that people are siding with the unions and not with the governer, so it appears the target is on his back, not theirs.
ALright man...... teachers hardly do any work. They are there for SIX hours a day! Thats 30 hours a WEEK! They are off around 2 days a month for whatever lame holiday comes around. Then they have THREE MONTHS OFF!!! Their job is EASY! At least 3 out of 10 people could walk in and do their job with ZERO training.
You know why its hard to get a teachers position? Because everyone and their cousin wants to be one! So they made it more difficult in Illinois to qualify. My friend Rob is a teacher. He used to be a retail book store manager. He said that was TWICE as difficult.
Lets not even get into how difficult it is to fire a crappy teacher! Or their INSANE pensions! Beginning teachers should make no more than $27K a year and after ten years make no more than $37K a year. Now divide that salary by NINE...... NOT 12 since they only work 9 months. Plus they need to pay 20% of their benefits.

Scott Walker's budget-repair bill.
E-mails obtained by Citizens for Responsible Government between staff for Cieslewicz and Sen. Mark Miller (D-Monona) indicate an effort to slow the timing of the publication of the bill had it passed.
In one e-mail from Janet Piraino, Cieslewicz's chief of staff, Piraino writes: "As you may have heard, Madison will convene a special council meeting on Thursday to extend collective bargaining agreements so that all our unions are on the same footing, with a contract through 2O12. We are racing against the clock so that our extensions will go into effect before the bill becomes law. To make matters worse, if the state law goes into effect first, the amendments to the agreements will make them null and void under the provisions of the new law. lf that happens, all our employees will be subject to the benefit cuts immediately, instead of at the end of the current contract."
Cieslewicz said Thursday that, since the bill didn't pass, the matter is a moot point. But he said he doesn't regret making the effort to approve the contracts.

Back in the 70's when nuclear power plants were the monster du jour, chemical plants were regularly dumping waste products in rivers and streams. Rivers feeding the Great lakes were almost devoid of fish.
Some rivers actually caught on fire. It was the robber barons and industrialists who placed profit above public safety that the govt finally went after.....lousy liberals and crappy conservatives, both sides were able to get on that band wagon.

Ive been saying this for years! Teachers are paid TWICE what they are worth! Reading this REALLY pisses me off!
