$101,091: Annual Compensation for Average Milwaukee Teacher

and how is that any different from the left .. with their monster being the rich, and those evil corporations ??

The rich, historically, dumped chemical wastes in our rivers, polluted the air, for profit. How did you benefit?

Are you really that ignorant? If so, the education system has failed you,and you it. You stand as an example of what I have been talking about. I have never excused the bad teachers, nor will I excuse bad parents or lazy students. I have always felt that the system can be improved, but as it is, it is adequate, IF the good teachers have good raw material delivered to them by the parents.
My wife can tell you about the kids who are plenty smart, but get hooked on drugs, and some commit suicide.

Our society is ill and needs treatment, and all you want to do is crucify the one profession that benefits us the most.

actually poor people tend to do this more than rich people do; just as poor societies cannot afford clean waste removal and treatment. recycling, after all, is a luxury service.

it's not. finding an evil "other" to target is par for the course in demagogeury.

which is why i like Governor Walkers' appraoch; the man has gone out of his way to keep it from becoming that.

actually, you are wrong....even the dumbest dirt farmer knew to place his outhouse away from his well, or stream, where he got his drinking water.
If he didn't, he learned quickly enough. Like the commercial says, we all live downstream..
Back in the 70's when nuclear power plants were the monster du jour, chemical plants were regularly dumping waste products in rivers and streams. Rivers feeding the Great lakes were almost devoid of fish.
Some rivers actually caught on fire. It was the robber barons and industrialists who placed profit above public safety that the govt finally went after.....lousy liberals and crappy conservatives, both sides were able to get on that band wagon.

If you ate telling me that you have been concerned about how much teachers are being paid before all of this got into the press then OK. But pardon me if I think most people never gave it a thought until Fox News started airing it!

*banging head on desk* You have dismissed EVERY bit of information and fact Maggie has given and read ALL of it! Just kidding. You didnt look at ANY of it You just rambled about things that have no logic regarding the topic!
You must work in a state Union

In any case as we can see by all the FACTS along with the collective of reasonable minds, that...........

State Unions are BAD for the tax payers and BAD for the children!!!! :soap
They arent accountable enough!
They cant be fired when they screw up!

Heck if you ask ME, they should be on commission and someone from an outside firm should do the testing and grading! They wont do that because they know that they would actually have to.......

At least I'm not settling for failing at worse, or adequate at best. But it sure is evident thats all thats required by you... I'm just not satisfied with that.

The teachers I look back on as good, were not the ones that taught me subjects I was good in, any teacher could have done that. The good ones were those that could peek my interest in things I wasn't really interested in, to challenge and get more out of me then I really cared to give.

This maybe only my opinion, but it doesn't take much of a teacher to teach someone that wants to learn, and will put in the effort to do so, a good teacher is one that can reach those aren't quite as willing, or aren't quite as bright.

As for the educational system failing me or me failing it, or being called ignorant by someone like you. I feel if that is the best you can come up with for a response, it shows who is ignorant and who isn't

If you ate telling me that you have been concerned about how much teachers are being paid before all of this got into the press then OK. But pardon me if I think most people never gave it a thought until Fox News started airing it!

So I guess this means that you got all you information about this from watching it on MSNBC* because that is the only station a liberal watches right ?? Or maybe you got it from Media Matters another leftist only view .. it must have been one of them two .

That makes about as much sense as your statement, now doesn't it.

actually, you are wrong....even the dumbest dirt farmer knew to place his outhouse away from his well, or stream, where he got his drinking water.

really. then you're going to have to explain to me why up until the 20th Century nobody knew that it was unhealthy for an Army to camp so that people upstream were pissing in the same river that people downstream were drinking from.

but i remain correct; only when you have the excess resources can you afford things like cleaning up the environment.

No skills? then you should be able to teach, right?

I have all the necessary skills to keep a teaching job (aside from the piece of paper saying I have a degree in education). Now, whether or not that means I have all the necessary skills to actually TEACH is a different question entirely.

For less? where do I sign up?

Umm
At the nearest school...

Do we need more teachers?

While there is conflicting evidence as to whether or not more teachers (i.e. smaller classes) are actually an effective way of improving student performance, I'd certainly rather have more qualified teachers than fewer qualified teachers for the same budget.

NYC takes aim at teachers' 'tenure for breathing' - USATODAY.com

According to the article, only 3.7% of eligible teachers in NYC were denied tenure, with another 7.2% getting another year of probation. In other words, you have to be REALLY awful to not get tenure. Thinking back to my own high school days, a lot less than 90% of my teachers deserved to be there...and I attended a fairly good suburban school.

that's something else we should look at changing. rather than recieving a specific certificate or a degree that can serve to limit supply; teaching accreditation should function like the Bar; where you just take a test or a series of tests.

welcome to our world.

I don't know how else to put it, Illinois is screwing you.

I know I am getting screwed! You know I am getting screwed! The problem is too many people in this state are blissfully unaware of what is going on around them, as we are a solid 'blue' state.

I think, for the most part, you are absolutely right. People never gave it a thought until Wisconsin's Democrats left the state and drew a target on teachers' backs for the news media.

The thing is though that people are siding with the unions and not with the governer, so it appears the target is on his back, not theirs.

That remains to be seen -- at the ballot box, and in the Senate chambers whenever the Democrats find out that enough contracts are being renewed behind the scenes to subvert the whole process.

you obviously have no idea how much teachers do, how many hours they ACTUALLY put in related to their job, etc. We should all simply forgive and forget your ignorance of this subject.

Not sure what you mean there.

Madison mayor defends move to sign union contracts - JSOnline

One wonders how this move served his constituency. I'm sure it served his future campaign donations, but the taxpayers?

Did every company in the 70's operate in an unethical manner?

Are there any criminals in Utah? There are....does that make everyone from Utah a criminal?

If the majority of the population is for the unions than my thought is that they will be OK with this move  I certainly don't have a problem with it since it is proper to do what one can when someone is attempting to remove a fundamental right.
