I see arguments in this list all the time. I know you liberals are well meaning and have the best interest of the country at heart. We disagree on what is best for the country and I welcome that debate. But, when you engage in the following practices, I’m not going to listen to you.

1. Racist! – Racist, sexist, homophobe and any other divisive terminology has to stop. People are not spending their days looking for ways to suppress minorities. The only group attempting to suppress anyone is you. You attack people for disagreeing with you and take part in these mindless name calling games. We get that you have a problem with dissenting viewpoints. Now, do the right thing, skip the name calling and come help us try to govern a country.

2. The Earth is Warming! – Ok, yes, the Earth is warming. But let’s be real. We don’t KNOW why. Know is the key word. We have a hypothesis that is accepted by many, but it is not a rule or law of physics or climate science. The Earth has been warming for thousands of years before man came along. In fact, had the Earth not warmed, we couldn’t live here. Understand, we can’t eliminate carbon output. It can’t be done. Nor should we cause millions of people to suffer from the economic destruction that is part of the Global Warming agenda. We can put together incentives to drive innovation towards cleaner energy. But nothing will be perfect. Stop belittling everyone that doesn’t believe in your hypothesis and creating grand conspiracies to account for dissention.

3. Deficits don’t matter. – Yes, yes they do. As the deficit increases our government is forced to devalue our currency to make it easier to eliminate the debt that they just can’t pay off. For the average person, that means our income may increase, but the buying power decreases. That is why you are seeing more and more middle class people living like they are in poverty. Deficits are destroying the middle class and preventing the poor from making progress. Deficits matter.

4. The 1% needs to pay their fair share! – They do. They pay higher effective tax rates than anyone in the country, except for corporations (we will get to them next). This movement that portends that the rich are to blame for all of society’s ills is using that false logic to try the rich in the court of public opinion and get a conviction of monetary remuneration without a trial and without allowing the rich to present one iota of evidence. That is as un-American as it gets. If the rich are truly guilty of harming society, then they need to be brought up on charges and given a day in court to defend their actions. We wouldn’t do this to any other groups based on a single factor like income. Can you imagine putting a bill in congress that requires all white Judeo-Christian men to pay a retribution tax? Of course not….well maybe you can. But the rest of us know that it is wrong. The rich are not to blame for everything you find wrong with America and it is not American to find them guilty of these ills without a trial.

5. Corporations are evil because…. – This one is so diverse and so misguided. Corporations are faceless entities of tremendous wealth that was obtained through slavery and deception. Or so you would have us believe. The reality is, corporations are groups of people that have bound themselves together through a legally binding agreement with the purpose of creating wealth through economic activity. They are heavily restricted, pay a tremendous amount of tax (despite the false evidence you’ve heard) and they have a lot of oversight from the government and internal sources. No, corporations aren’t angels. They are as flawed as any human. Some more than others. They are not patriotic. They are not employee driven. They are not charities (most of the time). They are economic engines that are driven by the market (which, by the way, is you) and provide us with goods or services and/or jobs and economic opportunities. If you don’t expect them to look out for you, you can exploit them as much as you claim they exploit us.

6. Radical Islam isn’t the problem and Christians do it to. – Yes, Radical Islam is the problem and no Christians are not flying aircraft into building, committing genocide in vast portions of any region, planting bombs at public events, or killing dozens of people just because they sin. There is such a huge difference between calling a sin a sin and killing people because they sin. There is Radical Islam problem in this world and we can’t fight it if we don’t address it on an intellectual level. That means providing counter arguments to gays must be killed to save them and kalifate in public forums to express the virtues of dialogue over violence. Burying our heads in the sand and ignoring the issue while trying to regulate inanimate objects is a recipe for disaster.

7. It should be free. – It can be anything from Healthcare (it is one word people…ONE WORD) to college. Nothing is free. We live in a country that is so mired in debt that any discussion of new programs has to come with a discussion on balancing the budget. We can’t pay for everyone’s healthcare and college. We can’t even pay for roads, military and basic infrastructure that is needed. We aren’t rich. In fact, we should envy the homeless. At least they don’t have the weight of debt dragging them down.

8. The Constitution says “provide for the general welfare” so we can do whatever we think is good for the country. – Wrong. Absolutely, 100% wrong. The Constitution says “provide for the general welfare” in two places, the preamble and the tax and spend clause. The preamble does not grant power to any branch of government. It just doesn’t. It is a mission statement for the government. As such, it limits the government to “form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty.” Then, each branch can achieve those goals based on their enumerated powers. The second time it is mentioned is in Article 1, Section 8. That grants congress the ability to tax and spend for the general welfare of the United States. That means the federal government is the only beneficiary. If they wanted the people or citizens to be the beneficiary of that clause, they would have used either of those terms. They didn’t, so we aren’t. If you don’t like that, amend the Constitution.

9. It is a micro-aggression. – Oh just grow up. Why do you have to be so offended by everything? Stop looking for reasons to be mad at people and start looking for reasons to be nice. How high is your blood pressure and psychiatrist bill if you have to find some racism, sexism or other –ism in everything. Like I side in #1, the average person isn’t spending their days trying to find ways to oppress other people. Just you.

10. I’m vegan and you should be to! – Ok, maybe so. But I don’t want to be. So stop banning/taxing foods that I like. It is my life and my healthcare bills, so it is my problem. We need to get back to a government that protects us from threats foreign and domestic and protects our rights, freedoms and liberties without putting their nose into our daily lives.

Are you offended by this? Fine. But I don’t want to hear about it. Get over it. Grow up.

The biggest thing conservatives need to stop saying is what liberals think. Every single time some conservative talks about what I say or believe, they get it wrong. This list does nothing more than make the OP look ignorant on the topic he made the thread about...

A good start. I'm sure there are a number of other things that could be legitimately added to the list.

Such as gun bans and gun free zones make us safer. Chicago being the largest gun ban / gun free zone around, it isn't working.

I'm sure there are others. Why not contribute?

From #1: "We get that you have a problem with dissenting viewpoints. Now, do the right thing, skip the name calling and come help us try to govern a country."

Ignorant or predictive? Predictive.

MOST of us don't use the blanket accusation. Some do, but most don't. Please don't broad-brush-paint the many with the actions of a few. Likewise, we can say the same thing about the name-calling that comes from the Right: Socialist, communist, statist, nanny-state liberal, "Godless liberals" (courtesy of Ann Coulter), etc. I think you must agree that when it comes to name-calling there's LOTS of blame to go around.

And one more thing - read up on Nixon's Southern Strategy sometime. Consider what the plan was...and how its unintended consequences have led to what we see in racial politics today. Most conservatives are NOT racist...but as a direct result of Nixon's adaptation of that "Southern Strategy", much of your politics is informed by the influence that the Deep South's "negrophobes" (yes, that's what the plan called them) have wielded on the GOP since the 1970's.

2. The Earth is Warming! – Ok, yes, the Earth is warming. But let’s be real. We don’t KNOW why. Know is the key word. We have a hypothesis that is accepted by many, but it is not a rule or law of physics or climate science.

Sir, we DO know why the Earth is warming. Yeah, AGW is a "theory"...but gravity itself is a theory, too. Yeah, we can never eliminate carbon output, but does that somehow require that we shouldn't keep from outputting too much? Of course not. To make it simple, look at the output from cars alone. Let's say each car has on average a fifteen-gallon tank, and that each tank is filled up about once a week? Is that reasonable? I think so. Now bear in mind that for every 8-pound-or-so gallon of gas that is burned, 20 pounds of CO2 is created. YES, 8 pounds of gasoline becomes 20 pounds of atmospheric CO2 - that's simple chemistry.

NOW multiply that 20 pounds of CO2 by 15 gallons of gas per car, times 52 gas-tank fill-ups per year (once a week, remember)...and THEN multiply that total by the half billion automobiles we have operating worldwide every single doggone day. In other words, our world's cars alone are pumping several gigatonnes of CO2 into the air every year...and that's not counting the output from the world's factories, trains, industrial plants, military vehicles, ships of every type, and aircraft.

And this is ALL from a source of CO2 with which our planet's climate has never before had to contend. In other words, how can you not see that yeah, human civilization IS warming our planet?

3. Deficits don’t matter. – Yes, yes they do...Deficits matter

"Deficits don't matter." Who said that? Was it a Democrat or a liberal? No. It was Dick Cheney. But for some reason, y'all love blaming us for deficits.

If you'll check, the federal deficit skyrocketed under Reagan, Bush 41 got it somewhat under control, and it went down under Clinton to the point that it became a surplus. Bush 43 slashed taxes (like Reagan did), and bye-bye went the surplus. Obama took over during the worst economic recession in 80 years and our deficit became accordingly astronomical in 2009 (which, btw, was the last year for which Bush 43 submitted a budget). Since 2009, Obama's cut the deficit in half.

But y'all still want to blame us for the deficits.

The 1% is needs to pay their fair share! – They do. They pay higher effective tax rates than anyone in the country, except for corporations (we will get to them next).

So why, then, did Warren Buffet famously point out that he pays a lower percentage of his income in taxes than does his secretary? Those who are rich can and do use high-powered accountants to pay as little as possible...and if you'll check, ever since Reagan took office, the income of the rich has skyrocketed...whereas the income of the middle- and lower classes has barely budged. If requiring the rich to pay higher taxes is so terrible for them, then why is their income increasing at such a higher pace than that of middle- and lower classes?

And when it comes to corporations, if you'll check, many of our largest corporations pay ZERO taxes - thanks to all the loopholes and deductions, they pay FAR less in taxes than most conservatives seem to think. To give you your due, if all we look at is the nominal rate, you're absolutely right! Get rid of the loopholes and deductions, and THEN we'll be happy to talk about cutting the nominal tax rate.

when you engage in the following practices, I’m not going to listen to you.
Here we go

Racist! – Racist, sexist, homophobe and any other divisive terminology has to stop.
No problem. Just stop everyone from being a being racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic....

The Earth is Warming! – Ok, yes, the Earth is warming. But let’s be real. We don’t KNOW why.
Yes, we do. The evidence is overwhelming that human activity is responsible for a great deal of climate change. And no, sniping about science you don't understand does not disprove what we know.

As the deficit increases our government is forced to devalue our currency to make it easier to eliminate the debt that they just can’t pay off.
Sorry, but that is sheer nonsense. The Fed is not printing up money to pay for deficits, or to make debt cheaper.

Inflation has been at 3% or less for years, deflation is a real concern now. No one's buying power has fallen because of monetary policy or federal deficits.

Deficits are destroying the middle class and preventing the poor from making progress.
Yet more nonsense. The middle class is getting railed by, including but not limited to:

• The shift from an industrial to a services economy
• Automation
• Women joining the workforce (thus suppressing wages)
• CEOs taking a bigger cut of pay
• Globalization and international competition
• Weakening of the unions

The 1% is needs to pay their fair share! – They do...
Yes, some extremists blame the rich; nothing new there. However, there is no question whatsoever that giving the wealthy massive tax cuts for the past ~40 years has exacerbated both wealth and income inequality, which in turn tilts the system in favor of the wealthy, and that's not good.

Corporations are evil because…. – This one is so diverse and so misguided.
If you say so.

How about this: When a company does something evil, like dump toxic waste into rivers, or fails to construct a deep-water oil rig properly thus spilling 5 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, or uses child labor, or does everything it can not to pay any taxes at all, or hikes the price of a life-saving drug to extortionate rates purely for the sake of profits, then we can call them evil.

Radical Islam isn’t the problem and Christians do it to. – Yes, Radical Islam is the problem and no Christians are not flying aircraft into building... etc
Everyone realizes that radical Islamists are a major problem. Other than that, there are the usual mistakes, e.g.:

• Terrorism is a tactic, and yes everyone does it. It was in fact Christians in Northern Ireland who waged a terrorist war on Protestants and the UK for years, including kneecapping people and blowing up buildings. It was an American and Christian who blew up the federal building in Oklahoma. The Contras and FARC both committed terrorist acts. It was a bunch of cultists in Japan who released sarin gas in a train. And of course, not so long ago the US was happy to throw money and arms at radical Islamists, as long as they were aiming their guns at Soviet troops.

• A lot of the problems in the Middle East have very little to do with religion, and a lot to do with oppressive governments that often receive the US or (occasionally) Russian seal of approval. E.g. Iran, Shah, US support; Egypt, Mubarak, US support; Ba'athists, Syria, Russian support; Saudi Arabia, US support....

It should be free. – It can be anything from Healthcare (it is one word people…ONE WORD) to college. Nothing is free.
And yet, advanced nations around the world subsidize health care and secondary education, often with equal or better outcomes than in the US. Who'da thunk it?

The Constitution says “provide for the general welfare” so we can do whatever we think is good for the country. – Wrong. Absolutely, 100% wrong.
If you say so

Meanwhile, no one has successfully shut down AFDC, TANF, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, VA, or other federal services on the basis that they are unconstitutional. Go figure.

It is a micro-aggression. – Oh just grow up. Why do you have to be so offended by everything?
So you're offended that someone else is offended? LOL

N.B.: Whining about other people whining really doesn't work.

I’m vegan and you should be to! – Ok, maybe so. But I don’t want to be. So stop banning/taxing foods that I like.
I'd be careful with that one if I were you. You don't wanna get caught by the Vegan Police.

Conservatives ought to spend less time trying to make American liberals act more maturely and reasonably...

...and A LOT MORE TIME trying to make American conservatives act more maturely, reasonably, and sanely.

Really.

Wake up, ksu. American conservatism is one of the major problems Americans face today.

liberals are brainwashed and/or greedy. they want you to work to provide for them. they want you disarmed so they can steal from you. so they can kill you. liberalism is a disease. the left has done nothing but destroy societies which allow it to seize power. it can happen here. don't let it.

From #1: "We get that you have a problem with dissenting viewpoints. Now, do the right thing, skip the name calling and come help us try to govern a country."

Ignorant or predictive? Predictive.

I did not call you names, I commented on what you posted. It was ignorant. And the little chunk you quote here is highly hypocritical in a thread you made telling people to stop disagreeing with you.

Here is an off the wall idea: if you want to know what liberals think, why not ask them, instead of telling them, and then saying they can't have those views?

I see arguments in this list all the time. I know you liberals are well meaning and have the best interest of the country at heart. We disagree on what is best for the country and I welcome that debate. But, when you engage in the following practices, I’m not going to listen to you.

So, just out of curiosity, why are liberals banned from using a word you do not hesitate to use? Hypocrisy much?

That is a blatantly racist statement.

The biggest thing conservatives need to stop saying is what liberals think. Every single time some conservative talks about what I say or believe, they get it wrong. This list does nothing more than make the OP look ignorant on the topic he made the thread about...

Oh, and he left out #11, denial.

Are you trying to compile a list of things conservatives need to stop saying? :D

I think you must agree that there's LOTS of blame to go around.

Don't you think it is a little different when people call liberals socialist and they then describe themselves as democratic socialists? You don't see conservatives claiming to be democratic racists.

Nixon is to blame for liberals using the term racist? That's a new one. I know what the southern strategy is, but this is the first I heard it used as justification for name calling.

Now bear in mind that for every 8-pound-or-so gallon of gas that is burned, 20 pounds of CO2 is created. YES, 8 pounds of gasoline becomes 20 pounds of atmospheric CO2 - that's simple chemistry.

The fact that gravity exists is a law. Why/how it exists is a theory. However, CO2 did exist before humans. I don't know why you think it didn't. And, AGW is a hypothesis because it can't be tested or proven and we don't have a single predictive model that is accurate.

That sounds impressive. Really it does. But, that's not the point of the post. So, I'll end my AGW debate with this:

"To finish with the math, by calculating the product of the adjusted CO2 contribution to greenhouse gases (3.618%) and % of CO2 concentration from anthropogenic (man-made) sources (3.225%), we see that only (0.03618 X 0.03225) or 0.117% of the greenhouse effect is due to atmospheric CO2 from human activity"

Global Warming: A closer look at the numbers

And this is ALL from a source of CO2 with which our planet's climate has never before had to contend. In other words, how can you not see that yeah, human civilization IS warming our planet?

Because there is a huge difference between knowing and suspecting. And I asked to drop the debate and focus on doing things we can agree on. Predictably, you've proven my list to be partially accurate by continuing to espouse some very unscientific claims. The planet didn't have to deal with CO2 before humans? Please.

"Similarly, atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the Early Carboniferous Period were approximately 1500 ppm (parts per million), but by the Middle Carboniferous had declined to about 350 ppm -- comparable to average CO2 concentrations today!

Earth's atmosphere today contains about 380 ppm CO2 (0.038%). Compared to former geologic times, our present atmosphere, like the Late Carboniferous atmosphere, is CO2- impoverished! In the last 600 million years of Earth's history only the Carboniferous Period and our present age, the Quaternary Period, have witnessed CO2 levels less than 400 ppm."

Climate during the Carboniferous Period

Let it go and work with us.

I love threads that instantly fail . . .

what country are you from? That sucks that stuff happens in your country but it doesnt happen here on any large scale especially the way you describe it. LMAO

Any Thread that starts out by grouping liberals, conservatives, dems, repubs, righties, lefties, christians, muslims etc etc together as a whole is an an instant fail and bound to be based on biased, hypocritical, dishonest retarded illogical nonsense and this original POST in this thread. Good lord that was a lot of crying about others crying HILARIOUS!!!!
A perfect example of dishonesty and hypocrisy,.

thanks for that laugh and huge failure.

So...Agent J...how do you REALLY feel about the OP and this fantasy of his?

C'mon...don't hold back.

"Deficits don't matter." Who said that? Was it a Democrat or a liberal? No. It was Dick Cheney. But for some reason, y'all love blaming us for deficits.

Is there a liberal calling for a balanced budget? Can you name one.

And when it comes to corporations, if you'll check, many of our largest corporations pay ZERO taxes - thanks to all the loopholes and deductions, they pay FAR less in taxes than most conservatives seem to think. To give you your due, if all we look at is the nominal rate, you're absolutely right! BUT if we look at their taxes after loopholes and deductions, our EFFECTIVE corporate tax rate is one of the lowest in the developed world. Get rid of the loopholes and deductions, and THEN we'll be happy to talk about cutting the nominal tax rate.

Because Buffet earns a lot of his money out of country. Do you think it is right for the US to tax businesses that aren't in the US? Can we go tax the Bestway Group of Great Britain? They don't operate in the US, to my knowledge. Because that is the loophole to which you are referring...right? Businesses stop conducting business in the US to escape our taxes.

Here we go

No problem. Just stop everyone from being a being racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic....

And my point is proven...moving on.

10 things conservatives need to stop saying:

1. "Race card!" Disgusting attempt to shut down any recognition that there still is real racism out there. It is cowardly and more divisive than anything the OP drivels about.

2. "AGW is a hoax!" The idea that thousands of scientists around the world are conspiring - without one single leak in the conspiracy - to fabricate an incredibly massive hoax, for the purposes of getting a few measly research dollars (try getting an NIH grant. Go on, try it), is the dumbest thing I've heard in my life. Crazier than 9/11 truthers.

3. "Deficits! AHHHH!" People who know anything about finance/economics look at the deficit:GDP ratio.... they don't scream about absolute numbers.

4. "The 1% pays its fair share" Way to focus on absolute numbers rather than percentages, again; and of course, way to ignore all the loopholes, tax havens, etc. A top tax bracket of 39% is meaningless if someone like Romney pays a lower effective tax rate than me.

5. "liberals" don't even say that. Deluded and naive college kids, maybe.

6. The OP is telling a bald-faced lie. Everyone recognizes that fundamentlist muslim terrorists are a problem. The reason "liberals" might say the type of thing that the OP is lying about is that the right is trying to conflate ALL MUSLIMS with the tiny fraction of muslims who are (1) fundamentalist, (2) terrorists or who provide material support to terrorists.

7. That's not "liberals" in general, and also, the OP is lying again. They aren't saying any of those "its" should be "free"; they are saying that everybody should contribute to buying a publicly available service via taxes. The OP should stop telling so many lies if it wants to make a case.

8. What is it with conservatives, especially those who are "very" conservative, that they think they are the beginning and end of constitutional interpretation? Seriously? What makes you think that you can read the constitution, ignore 200+ years of Supreme Court precedent, and simply lecture people on the one meaning of a particular term? What makes you think there even WAS one specific shared intent as to each term?

9. "Micro-aggression" is stupid. Congrats. But again, you're not talking about "liberals" ...you're talking about the current and very recent crops of college students.

10. That's not liberals. That's the guy who now only posts in the Food sub-forum.

If I wanted to tell as many lies as in the OPs, I'd assert that conservatives need to stop raping their neighbor's dogs to death while drowning a baby in each hand, for fun, every Friday.

But I'm not going to say that.

"Deficits don't matter." -- Dick Cheney

What a dirty liberal that man was.

Darth Cheney, first Socialist Lord.

This list does nothing more than make the OP look ignorant on the topic he made the thread about...

I did not call you names, I commented on what you posted. It was ignorant. And the little chunk you quote here is highly hypocritical in a thread you made telling people to stop disagreeing with you.

I added your original quote just so you could prove yourself wrong.

Here is an off the wall idea: if you want to know what liberals think, why not ask them, instead of telling them, and then saying they can't have those views?

Ha! Because your side does exactly the same thing and I'm playing the part of a liberal using conservative ideals to show your hypocrisy. Just to show you my inspiration: Ten Things White People Need To Quit Saying

So, just out of curiosity, why are liberals banned from using a word you do not hesitate to use? Hypocrisy much?

Designed hypocrisy. I had a purpose in this whole thread.
