The committee again demanded that Google parent company Alphabet, Twitter, Reddit and Meta — formerly known as Facebook — hand over a slew of records related to domestic terrorism, the spread of misinformation and efforts to influence or overturn the 2020 election.

“Two key questions for the Select Committee are how the spread of misinformation and violent extremism contributed to the violent attack on our democracy, and what steps — if any — social media companies took to prevent their platforms from being breeding grounds for radicalizing people to violence,” Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., said in a statement Thursday.

“It’s disappointing that after months of engagement, we still do not have the documents and information necessary to answer those basic questions,” Thompson said. “The Select Committee is working to get answers for the American people and help ensure nothing like January 6th ever happens again. We cannot allow our important work to be delayed any further.”

Its a shame they have to ask twice.

But as every single investigation to date showed, there was no fraud.

But trump said there was and most so called republicans are acting like it's true.

Voter fraud? Where? Did I miss it? Are you sure it isn't election fraud and not voter fraud? @Mycroft gets upset if you say voter fraud.

So, who finally proved there was fraud? Was it the four villagers who were found guilty of voting for trump twice?

This is great! I’ll feel a lot safer once these capital tourists, I mean terrorist, are caught! Just thinking that someone might stroll the hall of the capital again brings me chills…

I love how they speak in a panicked voice “we just saw people walk through the halls”. “They didn’t go through metal detectors!” Ha!

"hand over a slew of records related to domestic terrorism, the spread of misinformation and efforts to influence or overturn the 2020 election."
Seems an overly broad fishing expedition Pelosi's political driven political circus.

violent extremism contributed to the violent attack
Kinda important to get to the source for something like this. Unless some support domestic terrorism then why bother, right?

Yep. The only two words in that article that matter: "content moderation". This is what they're after. And by "they" I mean the politicians AND the companies. They would love to be told what to do on this matter.

Kinda over wired there, sport. The pursuit towards those social media giants by the 1/6 Committee is to find information pertaining to extremists involved with domestic terrorism and not moms and pops chatting about get-togethers or teens rambling on about school and dates, etc. The only people who get this upset about an investigation into information that are in possession of social media giants would be domestic terrorists/potential terrorists, etc. ;)

Social media companies need to answer for the harm their algorithms are targeted to spread.

Riiight.

Then, when Google plugs in "Search any comment using the term(s) 'kill', 'January', '6th', 'Pence', 'Schiff for brains', ect. we'll see what the committee gets. Remember, these ********ers are the ones that make stuff up even when the plain text of a conversation is not only sitting in front of them but available to the general public too.

You're not entirely wrong, however, search words used will be much more direct and to the point for which is very important to the Committee's investigation concerning 1/6/22. I also suspect that the Committee is looking to see how much or little social media giants cooperate. Then, what role that they may have possibly played in support of those extremists and plans for this or that. imo
