MODS: I put this here because polls show jobs and the economy are one of the voters top concerns.

Not bad: 1.4 million jobs added in August, dropping UE rate to 8.4%

Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 1.4 million in August, and the unemployment rate fell to
8.4 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. These improvements in the labor
market reflect the continued resumption of economic activity that had been curtailed due to the
coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and efforts to contain it. In August, an increase in government
employment largely reflected temporary hiring for the 2020 Census. Notable job gains also
occurred in retail trade, in professional and business services, in leisure and hospitality, and
in education and health services.

BTW: It took the miracle of Obamanomics with Slo Joe as co-pilot, almost four years to drop UE to around this level.

Only took Trump three years to crater the economy.

Those 1.4 million jobs were re-added.

Civilian unemployment rate

Obama inherited a disaster and handed a booming economy to Trump. Trump will hand Biden a disaster. No amount of stupid Trumpist lies will change that. Those only fly in cult meetings.

Oh yeah, and

At least 184,000 people have died from coronavirus in the U.S.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/grap...irus-us-cases-deaths/?itid=lk_inline_manual_7

The global death toll from the coronavirus pandemic could triple by year’s end, with an additional 1.9 million deaths, while a fall wave of infections could drive fatalities in the United States to 410,000, according to a new forecast from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.

But hey, dense blue states got hit hardest first, so those are probably mostly liberals, amirite?

How many of the recent jobs were Census Takers?

LOL, it was hardly a disaster; in fact it was building a base that ending the recession a little more than five months after Obama took office. It then proceeded to be the worst recovery since WW II. In 2016 the GDP grew by just 1.6%. It took Obama almost six of hie eight years to get payroll employment to the level Trump has it TODAY in the teeth of a pandemic.

By the way your chart supports my post the Obama didn't get unemployment down to the same ballpark as today's report until mid 2012. Hardly the sign of a booming economy. As I recall some of the drop in UE was because of people dropping out of work force.

Here's the month by month UE - much easier to compare than your chart

Well, dang. I thought for a minute you were going to put aside your usual LW drivel and mantras - but I was wrong. You probably you don't realize by citing pandemic mantras you actually emphasize the accomplishments Trump has preformed in keeping our economy going.

What nonsense! Tank the economy then recover some of the damage and then celebrate.

Why not do a good job with the pandemic and never tank the economy at all like, for example, Germany whose unemployment rate is half of ours and their 2nd qtr GDP drop was 1/3 of ours?

Tank the economy? Seriously? Which party is making closing down and article of faith? Hint: it ain't the Republicans.

Actually out 2nd Qtr GDP drop was less than Germany's. It was 9.5% - you got sucked into the MSM's report one quarter's number ANNUALIZED.

But Germans follow orders; the didn't go on spring break, they don't have masses of unmasked protestors or huge crowds partying.

Most of those would've died no matter what President Trump did. Joe Biden's own statements support this.

Seriously, is lying about Trump all you got? How about Pelosi standing on a stimulus package while getting her hair styled?

Yeah, damn that Trump forcing people to not wear masks or socially space while they clearly wanted to. And forcing tens of thousands of college kids to enthusiastically swap body fluids for an entire week when the virus was just getting going. And image the work he put in to get all those protesters out and about without masks and little spacing. Is it too late for another impeachment.

All first world countries closed down. Of them, only our economy tanked this hard. Reconcile that.

Nice try but it was the democrats who shut down the country and destroyed our economy for political gain. Seems the rules don't apply to Pelosi and the democratic leaders.

Unverifiable bull****

Joe Biden did say that "if President Trump had reacted two weeks or even a week earlier, 53,000 or even 57,000 Americans wouldn't have died".

184,000 minus 53,000 is 131,000
184,000 minus 57,000 is 127,000.

Are you claiming that Joe Biden is lying?

They shut down, handled the virus like we should have and reopened appropriately and their economies have not taken anywhere near the damage. You are just going to have to suck it up and deal with the fact you back a loser.
We shut down too. Problems too many people ignored the shutdown. Spring breaks, parties, trips to the beach, crowded bars, riots. massive pool parties:

Yes, he is. That's bull**** from some theoretic study. First off it's the state's governor who has the shutdown authority, not the President. Two weeks before he shut down there were around five deaths - do you seriously thing any state governors - remember it's the states authority - would have actually closed his state down?

Of course not. Remember that on this issue I'm on President Trumps side.

Are you claiming that 53,000 to 57,000 dead Americans isn't much of an issue?

That's because there was no national initiative or plan to make a unified country-wide shutdown and then trumpanzees hooked up with qanon to bitch about how being required to simply wear a mask was a giant conspiracy to steal everyone's freedumbs. Had trump got out in front of it, made a nation-wide plan to shut down and wear masks and then lead by example, many of these ridiculous freaks would've followed. But he instead poured gas on the nut-job conspriacists and here we are.

There never 53,000 to 57,000 dead Americans at issue. It was some wild speculation. Nobody, except LW propaganda outlets, er. . . the mainstream media, ever gave it serious credence.
