I don't understand how anyone could be this stupid.
Even if I had a handgun and bulletproof jackets the way I'd test them is by putting them on the floor with something inside to see how well the vest protects against bullets.

The thing I would absolutely not do is wear them and shoot at each other but maybe I'm a lot smarter than I think I am?
For starters, I'd worry that I may miss the vest and shoot my friend in the face which is likely not going to end well as I'm not friends with invincible superheroes.

When I was little, Mattel made a Winchester rifle that fired little plastic bullets. A kid in the neighborhood had a “potato gun.” It fired a plug of potato and would raise a welt if it hit you on bare skin. Kids were fed breakfast and not expected to be seen again before dinner…..
