"How can this be anything but a massive strategic blunder for Putin? That was a topic of conversation and multiple sessions over the past couple of days."

Each country's high quality armed forces are already NATO interoperable, each has modern and well maintained weapons systems, each is a democracy and of course each has civilian control of the military. Finland for instance already operates Boeing F/A-18s and has ordered up 64 Lockheed Martin F-35s. Their proximity to Russia has always been a superior source of NATO intelligence to include in the present Ukraine war.

NATO SecGen Jens Stoltenberg and the US SecDef Lloyd Austin said any Russian military action against either country while it is applying to NATO will be met.

That's a higher NATO efficiency score than some NATO members, such as Germany, Austria and several others.
