I understand that the kid is on the spectrum - my point is that, if he is indeed the mental age of a 6 year old, then his mental age is advanced enough to know not to strike out at adults. We do not benefit those with issues by taking from them moral agency.

Again, he could have felt legitimately threatened and not even normal thinking 6 year olds (and it is not wise to assume that mental level of a 6 year old is a good indication of him always acting like a regular 6 year old in every way, situation) will all flee rather than fight even an adult who they view as a threat to them. Teaching them morals and socially acceptable behavior takes a lot more patience and effort, which this very teacher was supposed to be a part of doing.
