‘We’ve never really seen anything like this’: US suicide rates hit 50-year peak

He repeatedly crowed before & during the campaign that he had no business or financial connections with Russia. Now Cohen spills the beans that he was hip deep in getting a Trump Tower in Moscow + giving his pal V. Putin the $50M penthouse. Now who has TDS?

When Trump was asked about cheating vendors out of money when he declared bankruptcy, he said he's smart businessman.

:roll: This is a years long trend. It didn't just suddenly spike with Trump. This is a problem that goes beyond politics.

I think trumpism has played a part in this sad statistic. I have met many people suffering anxiety and depression. Many of them have cited trump as the main reason for this. And sadly the cost of anti-depressants and psychiatic services is out of reach for so many poor and middle class Americans....thanks to the republicans.

There's a more important discussion here that goes beyond the politics du jour. It's that the American economic system is failing many. It spirals into education, health care, employment opportunity, and daily living. The social fabric is worn thin trying to compensate for this. So many people are working so hard to survive that communal ties are breaking down, leaving people isolated. Those with mental or physical health challenges are even worse off.

So naturally, hopelessness and addiction are rising.

Trump is making things worse, but he didn't start it. This has been decades in the making. Regressive policies that are focused on blaming individuals for not being good enough rather than policies that foster societal cohesion, all compounded by artificial scarcity that wouldn't need to be happening if we had our priorities in order. The top wealthy continue to sequester money, living scraps for the general populace, and then blaming the working class for not being able to rise to the occasion. They take away your money and your opportunity, and then tell you it's your fault. What next, blaming suicidal people for not pulling up their bootstraps and trying to find prosperity where there isn't any??

The purpose of government is to ensure the well being of the nation. It has become too bloated and too self-important. People are just trying to eke out a livelihood from birth to death, but the fundamentals of livelihood are now being overshadowed by ideological politics and fundamentalist extremism.

The high suicide rate makes complete sense. For some people, it's the only solution to a life of hopeless misery.

Ironically, Trump got elected based on a platform that promised to remedy all this. He pandered to the underdog. But he has done zippo to change this. He just used those poor saps to get elected, like any other politician would. Politics has ZERO loyalty to the every day American. ZERO.

TDS = people who should know better. Trump does not walk on water. He is a corrupt con man & swindler & crook. His eventual downfall will make Nixon's resignation look like a Brownie cup cake sale by comparison.

Putin wanted Trump to be President & he made it happen.

Promising to give Putin a $50 million penthouse does not imply trump did anything immoral or criminal. He and Putin are having another one of their special private meetings in Buenos Aires and so soon after their private meeting in Paris. I am sure everything is above board. The fact that only a translator is permitted in the room with the 2 of them definitely proves everything is kosher. Putin probably wants to know where his $50 million penthouse is.

Breaking news. After Cohen admitted to LYING to congress, trump has abruptly cancelled his private meeting with Putin! I wonder why????

I agree. It is a sign of the decline of the basic fabric of our society. But Trump has accelerated the process. He sews fear & hatred which creates depression.

I think it's probably a bunch of Trump-obsessed snowflake losers who have a nervous breakdown every time Trump tweets something.
{Barely muffeld giggle}
You know -the kind who start some some anti-Trump nonsense post every 10 minutes on this forum.

{full on LAFFFF riot}

Giving people what they want/need is a form of honoring them...respecting them....it is an act of caring.

It should be no surprise that this is good for people.
And when educators push their ideologies down the throats of students, some become confused, others try to convert and others rebel. Result, IMO, suicides (and violence to others) increases.

The thing is it's not the lack of awareness that's causing people to want to give up on life, so what do you think it is? The culture? Financial problems? Lack of faith in humanity? And more importantly, can we really do anything about it if people want to end their life?

The same is true of various economic indicators but that doesn't stop Trumpers :)
