When Lennon applied for a green card, the FBI opened an extensive file on him. Included in this file were the carefully transcribed lyrics to all the songs on his latest album. Lennon fans also wanted to know all the words to the songs. Luckily for them, the lyrics could be found printed on the dust sleeves of every album sold.John Lennon was a commie!
( I thought I would say it first, since we know a bunch of THEM will say it )
Amen, brother.“Lennon’s lyrics also give way to an implied existentialism. With no gods and no afterlife, only humankind – within ourselves and among each other – can decide how to live and choose what matters. We can choose to live without violence, greed or hunger and – to quote “Imagine” – exist as a “brotherhood of man … sharing all the world.”
It is here that Lennon’s humanism – the belief that humans, without reliance upon anything supernatural, have the capacity to create a better, more humane world – comes to the fore. Nihilism is not the path, nor is despondency, debauchery or destruction. Rather, Lennon’s “Imagine” entails a humanistic desire to see an end to suffering.
The spirit of empathy and compassion throughout the song is in line with what scholarship has found to be strong traits commonly observable among secular men and women. Despite attempts to tie Lennon and “Imagine” to blood-lusting atheists like Stalin and Pol Pot, the overwhelming majority of godless people seek to live ethical lives.
For example, studies have shown that when it comes to things like wanting to help refugees, seeking to establish affordable health care, fighting climate change and being sensitive to racism and homophobia, the godless stand out as particularly moral.
Indeed, secular people in general exhibit an orientation that is markedly tolerant, democratic and universalistic – values Lennon holds up as ideals in “Imagine.”
'Imagine' at 50: Why John Lennon's ode to humanism still resonates

So why is this thread in the political forum? Read the last two sentences. If we had more atheist/Humanist politicians, we would probably have a better nation.
I wish you'd be best. Or are you?No a pretty song with inane lyrics that still resonate with commies
More ridiculous woke crap.
Women aren't better than men just because they are women.
Gays aren't better than straights just because they are gay.
Blacks aren't better than whites just because they are black.
John Lennon isn't better than Johnny Cash just because he is a weirdo.
Atheists aren't better than theists just because they are atheists.
Besides, being an atheist is boring.
What kind of twisted studies are you reading that are making you believe athiests have higher morals than theists? Let me guess, the study was backed by atheists. You do know that there are bad atheists don't you? I will admit that there are bad theists. Even the devil knows God exists.
Awe did he make you mad? The Beatles were bigger than Jesus Christ, and more important too.More ridiculous woke crap.

Good for you for being so much better than Christians and then patting yourself on the back. I'm sure you are looking for praise or you wouldn't have asked for it but before you go judging Christians you really should understand this: Just because you might have encountered people who claim to be Christians and don't act like Christians, that doesn't mean Christianity is wrong. I'm sure you get tired of people confusing Satan worship with humanism so don't make a similiar mistake and think fake Christians and real Christians are the sane thing. Not sure where you get all this “are better” stuff. Nothing in the song implies that.
And you forgot to add that being white, male, straight, and Christian does not make anyone better, either.
And let me quote the past couple of sentences from article: “For example, studies have shown that when it comes to things like wanting to help refugees, seeking to establish affordable health care, fighting climate change and being sensitive to racism and homophobia, the godless stand out as particularly moral.

I find this to be true. I am very proud to be a liberal Humanist and I vote for candidates who exhibit those traits as listed above. I certainly don’t find fundamentalist Christians to have much compassion or empathy for the downtrodden.

Trust me. God is not concerned about the competition. He'll be just fine. He can create a Universe. The Beatles who aren't dead are going to die. There really is no comparison. The Beatles were bigger than Jesus Christ, and more important too.
I never said you can't be a good person if you aren't religious. He's the one sitting on the moral high ground here and proclaiming that if you aren't a secular humanist you aren't as good as him.Nobody said that they were. he said that we are all equals.
The belief in a creator deity has nothing to do with morality.
Can you objectively prove that either the devil or god exists in a way that doesn't require faith or belief to support it?
