‘Enter at Your Own Risk’: Billboards Warn Austin Police Defunded

This should be outside every Democratic Party run city. Tell people the truth for a change.

If the Democratic Party captures the presidency and Congress, followed by the Supreme Court, that notice should be put at every airport and border crossing into the USA.

They should just all walk off the job.

They should just all walk off the job.

As a former union steward, walkouts and strikes generally hurt the union members more than the company. What is FAR more effective is work slowdown or stoppage. Keep drawing the paychecks. Be there. In uniform. Be on patrol. Be at work - but doing little to nothing. That's what they protesters want anyway, isn't it? The police to do nothing. That what the mayor and city council want too. Give them what they want. Don't arrest people. Stop no one. Question no one. Don't do much of anything - but do almost nothing correctly and well. Be on the job - not doing the job.

I could tell past war stories of the difference between a walk off and a slowdown/stoppage, but why post the obvious?

They could spend a bunch of time outside Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme watching for crime.

Denying reality only further demonstrates your detachment from it.

That is exactly Joe Biden's openly demands: "Democrats will not longer accept facts." Biden's words.

Here, the police eat at the finest locally owned restaurants - they and their families - for free. Literally free. Guess their response time if one of those business owners calls the police? It's measured in seconds.

One time when we are present, a customer at the most popular was trying to get out of the check after eating all of it saying it was terrible and he shouldn't have to pay - and wasn't going to. That only works in the big chain restaurants, not private owners for which the lose would come out of their own pocket. In 1 minute the police where then, another before the second deputy arrived.

They told him that he has to pay. The customer replied that he wasn't going to and "what are you going to do about it?" walking out to the door. The deputies followed and answered, "Sir, please step over here... do you have anything in your pockets that might cut or hurt me?" We both know what came next, don't we?

Doesn't it ever occur to people that treating the police like dirt might have something to do with this? Be good to others and they'll be good to you also applies to police officers.

They should. Then they can hire *good* cops who aren’t giant ******s.

Did you take a look at "the department" the two deputies who were shot and wounded the other day, work for?
They are both victims deserving our sympathy, but consider they are short timers.... had to know the reputation of the "agency" where they intended to take jobs.

I don’t want anyone to get hurt so my next comment isn’t related to violence: there are no good cops. They might be decent people, great people, don’t know. But there are no good cops.

Oh, now it makes sense. She's using her office for personal payback. How dare SHE, the goddess, be stopped by the police!

I think most would guess no one would be surprised of your view that the NYC police who were killed rushing into the twin towers on 9/11 were evil cops and good ridden, too bad the heroes attacking us on 9/11 didn't get more.

If you take blue states out of 911, we would barely have any death rate at all.

On the way here I stopped for gas at a C-store and two deputies had a young man at one of their patrol cars - everything from his pockets on the hood - some coins, toothpaste and toothbrush, a wallet, a couple other things. A shoplifter. Homeless.

He was not arrested. The deputies were talking to him trying to figure how to give him some advice and help if he will accept it, telling him where there is a shelter they could take him to if he wished, some local churches that can get him a little money and have food banks etc - but also adding if he continues to steal ultimately they would have to arrest him.

Wow, what scum! Those officers should be fired for harassing him! At least that's the open view of some Democrats including on this thread above me.

 Another reason to have no blue states.

Hey, antime ya’ll want to succeed, feel free to leave. The land stays with us though. ;)

You have a unique POV, to put it mildly. Her "offense" was DWB. Do you understand the concept of walking a mile in another's sandals?

Jesus certainly did, it was the core message in his teachings.

Ask your black friends about the broken tail light "game". Do you reside in some sealed environment?

I recall an interview of the late Elijah Cummings, describing how often he was stopped by police for DWB....

This is in the same vein, the reforms arising from the investigation of the "Ferguson plantation" that resulted in the consent decrees Sessions-Trump pulled the rug out from under.

Why did the DOJ investigation of the Ferguson system of "community policing", (aka fleecing) read identically to this

First Trump presented the spectacle of braying about imaginary "American Carnage" during his inaugural "performance", in the presence of the Obamas.

As he had as far back as his "Central Park 5" performance, and later his fake birther "investigation", from the moment he announced,
"Mexicans are Racist", Trump put his "American Carnage" literally on steroids.

Biden is not the POTUS, Trump is, and has conducted himself if no one else was, or ever will be again, from the day after the election results.

Project all you want to, but the DOJ reacted reasonably to what its investigation of Ferguson "policing" revealed,

Then came Trump and his "night rider", Jeff Sessions.

It's nice of them to announce that Austin is now a safe place for families with children.

I think it's great for some of these cities to prioritize the root problems of crime instead of just constantly adding more cops and military weaponry. Nobody should want a police state.

How they could be defunded if so much money to be there? Almost 20% of all US dollars were printed in 2020!
