The caramel-coated popcorn’s maker, Frito-Lay, announced the addition of Cracker Jill on Tuesday, saying the move was aimed at celebrating “the women who break down barriers in sports.”

Bags of Cracker Jill will be available at concession stands at ballparks around the country, and to fans who donate at least $5 to the nonprofit Women’s Sports Foundation on the snack’s website.

As part of the new nibble’s launch, the more than 125-year-old brand released an “updated” version of the seventh inning stretch classic, “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” belted out by singer Normani.

This will surely piss off the conservative folk. I mean, how dare they? LOL

it's a company making a company decision. Doesn't effect you.
It doesn't. It still a stupid issue.
Using it as a political football is stupid.
Using it to make people go crazy is stupid.
It's a food product, go enjoy the day

Until now I had forgotten that song existed, and I don't think I ever really knew or even bothered wondering what "cracker jacks" were.

I suppose good for Frito-Lay?

Although this is CLEARLY a marketing ploy.

I'm surprised they didn't decide to declare that "Jack" was "non-binary".
Get some of that shiny packaging stuff that changes the image depending on what angle you look at it, then the mascot of the probably unhealthy bits of probably food can be whoever you want them to be.

Use it to reflect sunlight into the eyes of baseball players.

What could go wrong?

More political correctness. I doubt it will help or hurt sales. I don’t think crackerjack is very popular today. Their heyday as a premiere snack is long gone. I don’t think they even sell crackerjack at the ballparks anymore. At least not that I have seen. Crackerjack or Crackerjill, it’s probably been 50 years since I had any, so changing the name doesn’t bother me.

Now when it comes to the Cleveland Indians becoming the Cleveland Guardians, the name change itself didn’t bother me, not in today’s politically correct era. But every time I hear the Name Cleveland Guardians, I think of newspapers, not a baseball team. They sure as all get out could have come up with a better name, not one that reminds folks of a newspaper and not a baseball team. Their call though. Cleveland Guardians, sounds like a newspaper syndicate.

And the profit margin is great because it's actually birdseed that only self-identifies as caramel-coated popcorn and peanuts,
To be fair, regular popcorn and peanuts aren't that far from being birdseed themselves, especially if the birds in question are seagulls.

IMHO, it was simply a clever marketing ploy and is getting quite a bit of free publicity.
