‘A community on edge’: Town torn apart by sexual assault accusations against football

It is a town in turmoil, thrust into national headlines by a tale of racially charged violence and negligence graphically detailed in a $10 million lawsuit the McDaniels filed last week against the 230-student school district. The suit claims that three players on the high school football team sexually assaulted a mentally disabled teammate — a son of the McDaniels — with a coat hanger, which they kicked deep into his rectum. The three alleged assailants are white; the McDaniels’ son is black.

The McDaniels sought legal help soon after the alleged Oct. 22 assault, which the suit says followed months of escalating race-based bullying that coaches and administrators allegedly ignored.

The tormenters, allegedly led by football star John R.K. Howard, a transplant from Texas with ties to a prominent Dietrich family, forced the victim to recite words to a racist song, called him racist names and, in full view of coaches, physically fought him as part of a “toughening up” program until he fell down unconscious, the lawsuit claims. The players were expelled in November and criminally charged in March.

If these charges are proven, and that administrators and coaches were involved as in - ignored the race baiting- bullying- using the kid as a punching bag, I would hope a significant jail sentence is included.
Then never be permitted to work with students or children till 1 day after they are certified as dead.

The district officials are accused of knowing in the criminal complaint, so it would appear that at the minimum, probable cause and sufficient evidence exists to make the arrest and charge them with the crimes - the trial and evidence will tell.

Reasonable person standard - the accusation is that the officials witnessed and allowed the young man to be beaten until unconscious by the same young men that also violated him anally with a cloths hangar.

The white ringleader of a horrific sexual assault of a mentally disabled black teen will avoid jail time and escape classification as a sex offender after pleading guilty to a lesser charge......

......The attack occurred on Oct. 23, 2015, when Howard and Tanner Ward, along with a third juvenile student, pretended to offer the victim a hug, then held him down and sodomized him with a coat hanger. KTVB reports “a third attacker then kicked the coat hanger several times, forcing it farther into the victim’s body and causing rectal injuries that required treatment at a hospital.”

The assault followed several months of race-related discrimination levied against the victim, who was adopted by a Dietrich, Idaho family when he was a child. The 18-year old victim was reportedly called “Kool-Aid,” “chicken-eater “ and the N-word by his teammates. Howard, the ringleader, “also posted a confederate flag on the plaintiff’s computer and demanded he learn and recite a racist song titled “Moonman Notorious KKK,” KTVB reports.....
