Why should those with natural immunity be forced to vaccinate?

Since the OP's study is yet to be peer reviewed, its findings still have to follow the process before any conclusions are drawn one way or the other. From a pandemic management perspective, it would still come down to proving a person has had the virus, which is through a serology test or a...

Judge abolishes Trump-era restrictions on visas for skilled foreign workers

Not if you get a job in academia.

Judge abolishes Trump-era restrictions on visas for skilled foreign workers

Until we get robots capable of that, I agree; and I don't think that will ever happen. What will likely expand is the use of certain technologies to make jobs in the trades more effective, like cameras to run into pipes to help diagnose problems without the intrusive methods used in the past. On...

Judge abolishes Trump-era restrictions on visas for skilled foreign workers

Sure, there always needs to be a balance of the type of work people do. Those trade jobs are likely safe from automation for the foreseeable future since much of that skillset comes from not only knowing how to build and repair, but also troubleshoot on the fly; something automation doesn't do...

Judge abolishes Trump-era restrictions on visas for skilled foreign workers

The thing is the younger generations are thinking about careers and entrepreneurship, not just jobs. I think the trades are a great way to go for those who are not interested in corporate life, or the responsibilities and risk of being business owners, but what we really need are technically...

Taliban Bring Back ‘Virtue’ Ministry, Stoning and Amputations for ‘Major Sins’

Indeed. This has been a war of attrition throughout most of the time the US/NATO has been there. The Taliban made itself the thorn in the elephant's foot and understood they weren't the ones expending many resources to be there. The Afghan government had no leverage because it wasn't...

Taliban Bring Back ‘Virtue’ Ministry, Stoning and Amputations for ‘Major Sins’

What they're actually able to do with them is what remains to be seen. The ANSF had a problem in this regard even with US contractors there to help; shortages of pilots, mechanics etc. were known issues which don't suddenly disappear because the Taliban has possession of them.

Taliban Bring Back ‘Virtue’ Ministry, Stoning and Amputations for ‘Major Sins’

I never stated the equipment was out of date. What I said was none of it was equipment not found in the military of other nations, and you seem to forget that the Taliban has been the beneficiary of US equipment from victories they'd have in skirmishes with the ANSF.

Taliban Bring Back ‘Virtue’ Ministry, Stoning and Amputations for ‘Major Sins’

Fair enough, but the argument I present is the very same one that's used when other people are shot by police as an immediate defense of an officer's actions. The compelling case here for the officer is he shot someone actively breaking through a secured area with the potential of others...

Taliban Bring Back ‘Virtue’ Ministry, Stoning and Amputations for ‘Major Sins’

What kind of "formerly secret weaponry"? Much of what's been reported on the remaining equipment seems like pretty standard equipment the the Russians, Chinese, and Iranians already have. Thus far Russia is still waiting to recognize the Taliban government, so they're not quite "aligned" just...

Taliban Bring Back ‘Virtue’ Ministry, Stoning and Amputations for ‘Major Sins’

The feeling of fear for one's life is pretty subjective, which is why these cases have mixed results in court, but mainly favor police. In some cases where police have reported it that way but then video shows them shooting someone in the back makes that process easier, but many have not been so...

Taliban Bring Back ‘Virtue’ Ministry, Stoning and Amputations for ‘Major Sins’

One can question whether it was a justified shooting or not, but if one holds to the idea that police officers can defend themselves using lethal force if they fear for their lives, then a case can certainly be made for the officer shooting her if he felt threatened that way. That she was part...

Moderna Says New Covid-19 Vaccine Data Support Need for Third Dose

There's still more to learn about who actually needs it before any decisions can be made on whether it's required or not. Where we end up with treatments and general herd immunity will factor in as well.

Gov. Gavin Newsom easily survives California recall election, AP projects

Except now the realities of weather changes make it hard to ignore; we're seeing pattern changes across the board with more frequency. I've already sat in town meetings to discuss improvements to the sewage system because the amount of flooding into residential and commercial units has increased...

Moderna Says New Covid-19 Vaccine Data Support Need for Third Dose

It looks like we're going into seasonal flu shot season territory since these shots are about maintaining protection versus establishing long lasting protection. The other question is how well will treatments for COVID 19 improve and made available so it doesn't present the same problems as it...

I guess it will come more to a head when water scarcity becomes more dire.

Gov. Gavin Newsom easily survives California recall election, AP projects

Well that's part of the problem with droughts; it doesn't pour so you end up with less available water to collect. From a reservoir perspective I imagine more might be useful, but if the amount of rain is decreasing, then that only gets you so far. Is there any debate going about water...

Gov. Gavin Newsom easily survives California recall election, AP projects

Yeah, so I've read. The problem is not only more people, but less water to go around as droughts continue to increase.
