  • Ill try to keep it somewhat simple... Which it is pretty simple to begin with...
But syndicalism is the theory and idea that everyone shares equal ownership under production in a union or trade union. It has a lot to do with unions. Under syndicalism the unions exist not under "state control" or in other terms they exist independent from the state so that the unions can put the workers above the government bureaucracy. Under syndicalism everyone in a union is treated equally and everyone in a union have a say. They believe in as much decentralization as possible. Labor unions in syndicalism would likely share a complicated relationship of co-operation and opposition with the state. Syndacalism and socialism pretty much go hand in hand. They both share the idea that the workers should own and control the work place. I call myself a decentralized socialist and syndicalism shares that idea that the economy should be decentralized and almost "democratically planned".
(sorry I have to send this in two messages it's too long for one.) As far as government policy goes, Trotsky wanted the nation to be organized and ran by various workers councils so that the government as we know it wouldn't exist, but would come from the workplace so that everyone would have a say in how resources were distributed. At one point Trotsky said "Socialism needs democracy like the human body needs oxygen." Sorry if that was confusing or long winded, but I hope it helps and feel free to ask any other questions.
Well I'm sure you know who Leon Trotsky was. I follow his views of socialism, though I do disagree in some areas. I'll try and give the basics. We believe that after Lenin's death and Trotsky's exile by Stalin the USSR ceased to even attempt to achieve socialism and become what Trotsky called a "deformed workers state.' Which is a state where the working class took power, but lost it to a new bureaucratic class in this case Stalin and his followers. There is some debate over whether the USSR was a deformed worker's state or purely state capitalism.
Another difference is Stalin believed in Socialism in One Country, Trotsky said it was impossible to form a single socialist state without the capitalist powers trying to undermine it. He thought that a large number of nations would have to become socialist at once which is why he advocated for an international workers movement to spread a worldwide revolution.
Hahah its pretty bad. Once was a state of "radicals" but drastically turned around in the past 40 years unfortunately...
Ahh so what do you mean by "Trotskyist"? What are your views? Can you try to explain them to me? At least the basics?
Yea he makes me wonder to. I once had hope for him being pretty progressive on the campaign trial but like all "liberal" or "progressive" (at least the majority of them) once put in power they always puss out at the will of the Republicans and the interests of Big Business. Its a shame on all the promises he has not kept and compromises and pussed out on. But in my book he is still the "lesser of two evils" i wouldnt want to see a Republican take his place right now. I believe it would be a lot worse with one of them in power..
Haha Kansas maybe worse than where I'm at (Tennessee). Yes I'm a leaning Trotskyist. Honestly Obama is really making me wonder how much of a lesser evil he is though, especially if he cuts medicare or social security.
Na im also not. Im "registered democrat" mainly because i consider them most of the time the "lesser of two evils" and with the screwed up two party system not giving 3rd parties a fair chance in elections but i am a Democratic Socialist. I am also in a majorly conservative part of the country (Kansas).
But you said your a leaning Trotskyist?
