Jon Stewart benefited by 829% ‘overvalue’ of his NYC home even as he labels Trump’s civil case ‘not victimless’

Nope. Nope, he likely bought and later sold the property based on its ‘fair market’ value - which has nothing to do with its assessed (for property taxation) value. Was the property’s mortgage (secured loan) obtained for more than its assessed (for property taxation) value? If so, wasn’t...

You should be forced to sell your house and rent

That’s hard to do if you don’t (yet) reside in their state/district. That’s a big problem with federal control, since one can occasionally vote for (or against) only 3 (.05%) of ‘our’ 535 congress critters.

    CNN Admits Mar-a-lago value

Nope, because much smaller lots (even without buildings on them) nearby have sold for much more than $18M. The court chose to use the assessed (for local taxation purposes) value. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2023/oct/06/facebook-posts/new-york-officials-didnt-value-mar-a-lago-at-18-mi/

    CNN Admits Mar-a-lago value

… it shows how unrealistic the alleged value assessed (invented?) by the court was.

Jon Stewart benefited by 829% ‘overvalue’ of his NYC home even as he labels Trump’s civil case ‘not victimless’

Nope, I’m “coming out” against the state deciding they know what a property was (or is) ‘really worth’ better than a (mortgage) lender. Real estate is generally (kept) undervalued (from its ‘fair market value) for property tax assessment purposes. That’s done to allow unelected bureaucrats to...

Jon Stewart benefited by 829% ‘overvalue’ of his NYC home even as he labels Trump’s civil case ‘not victimless’

Yep, for an ‘inflated’ value, which was likely accepted by a (mortgage) lender.

Jon Stewart benefited by 829% ‘overvalue’ of his NYC home even as he labels Trump’s civil case ‘not victimless’

Exactly, since the lender was content to issue the ‘secured’ (by a property lien) loan which was repaid. It’s not as if the lender ended up losing money by having to take possession of collateral worth less than the loan amount (after a default). It’s “remotely similar” for the buyer if they...

Jon Stewart benefited by 829% ‘overvalue’ of his NYC home even as he labels Trump’s civil case ‘not victimless’

It’s unlikely that anyone (other than Trump or other threat to demorat power) would be found to be liable under the ridiculous allegation that they ‘unlawfully’ overvalued their real estate.

Where do you fall on this Pew Scale

    That was also my result.

RFK Jr picks California lawyer Nicole Shanahan as his running mate.

It’s unlikely that a ‘third party’ candidate will get any EC votes.

You should be forced to sell your house and rent

You seem to consider any public service to be socialism (or socialist). Socialism is defined as government (public) ownership or control of the means of production. What, exactly, do public roadways, schools, courts or police departments produce? Most see having government (publicly) funded...

You should be forced to sell your house and rent

That’s how our congress critters decided to reduce (cut) SS benefit costs. Folks can still get (reduced) SS benefits at age 62.

You should be forced to sell your house and rent

Simply because something is government (taxpayer) funded doesn’t make it socialism (or socialist). Do you consider having public roadways, courts, police or animal control to be socialism (or socialist)?

    Where is the LOLCritters thread?

    More like rodeo skills. ;)
