Tresha, Del touched more in her lifetime than most generations touch. I was the silent partner. She was this fireball that raged in time with the movement of society. She loved you before she knew you as she loved all that fought for LGBT rights. She said that hers would be the last generation of Lesbians that would be denied or she would die trying.

You have shared some very special words. You have made some profound statements about my Del.

We will all do well if you expand the movement. We all walk together holding hands and fighting to be seen.

I have been asked to attend a dinner in her honor in Miami tomorrow and one in DC the day after. I will remember the LGBT people that Del touched online at these dinners. You will not be forgotten. You and all the brothers and sisters will all be raised up. the torch is passed to the next Del's.

I looked forward to every single one of her responses to me with a strange anticipation of seeing something that was for the most part very sweet and compassionate. She was so strong willed and very headstrong in her beliefs which I also looked forward too.

This is a hard pill for me too swallow...she is not gone she is here...with us and all of her many freinds.

I have another friend in the hospital with leukemia, not doing well at all right now..... He told me tonight, "I don't want to talk about leukemia, let's just talk about life and living." So, we talked, or I talked, he's too weak...... so I babbled on and on about the silly things the new babies this year have been doing. The new ones, learning about life....... With people moving on, the teachers, the warriors, the poets, the singers, the elders..... it's our time my friend. Time to step up, learn what we need to learn, acquire whatever skills we may lack, and step up and into those huge shoes they leave behind.
