My experience with church is there are always more women, mothers, and grandmothers in attendance than men. Men usually only go if they're dragged along, and women will go on their own if they have to.
On top of that, giving confession is like talking to a gay best friend, and the parish usually socializes around a gossip group of women even if there's a male priest or minister at the head of the congregation...
...so yea, all the shtick about church being patriarchal seems disingenuous. Even with religious education, teachers are predominantly women, not men.
