Bosonic String Theory does, in fact, say there are 26 Dimensions. As far as I know, ST has presented "testable hypotheses" but, they are impossible with today's technology. However, there was the Faster-Than-Light particles detected so, maybe we can see. Anything in upper dimensions would be completely foreign to us, and trying to comprehend multiple dimensions (greater than ours) is mind-boggling. I'll recommend "Flatland" by Edwin Abbott Abbot. It's a fun read on the idea of larger dimensions to people that dwell in the lower ones.
You're argument that "'god,' angels, demons, etc." can dwell in these upper dimensions is not uncommon. Point being, if they exist in extra dimensions, we cannot even interact with them, why even bother spending time acknowledging their existence, let alone "praying" to them.
