    Kids n' Kondoms

It sure does. I'm coming from a rational, evidence-based perspective that indicates those kind of programs work, as opposed to an emotional knee-jerk reaction. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/files/PPFA/reducing_teenage_pregnancy.pdf New Studies Signal Dangers of Limiting Teen Access to Birth...

    Kids n' Kondoms

Sure, but it's MORE of a problem if they are having intercourse without a condom. And THAT is generally the alternative, not abstinence. I think a lot of people who oppose giving condoms are approaching this from the mindset that if the kids just don't have access to condoms, they won't have...

    Kids n' Kondoms

In high schools where intravenous drug use is a problem, they absolutely SHOULD hand out clean needles in the school. Ironically, your analogy that is supposed to be an outrageous extension of this idea, is actually a perfectly reasonable policy itself. There is no correlation between access...

Can we build it? Yes we can!

Oh, I thought "home country" referred to the country where the project was taking place. In any case, I pretty much always oppose protectionism. If you want to promote infrastructure development abroad, then let's do it. If you want to provide economic stimulus at home, then let's do it. But...

Can we build it? Yes we can!

But even so, you could give them more infrastructure per dollar spent without the inefficiencies created by protectionism. I'm confused...I thought you were talking about hiring EXCLUSIVELY foreigners? Maintenance is much easier than construction. I am very confused by your...

Can we build it? Yes we can!

The costs of getting lower-quality materials and/or workers just because they happened to be located within a particular nation. If we want to help countries build up their infrastructure, why do we need protectionist restrictions on what workers can be hired and where the materials can come...

    Criminalize racist and bigoted words?

If you think that it's a "choice" whether being treated that way affects one's cognitive abilities (and why would anyone choose to be negatively affected if it's that simple?), then you must be very fortunate to have lived a conflict-free life. Not everyone is so lucky.

    Criminalize racist and bigoted words?

I had a similar experience. When I was in high school, this kid who was bullying me made a website (outside of school, on his own time) devoted to harassing me and spreading rumors about me. Fortunately my school got involved when they found out about it, and helped me get it taken down.

Can we build it? Yes we can!

I support assisting poor countries with building infrastructure. It's a very worthwhile investment that pays for itself many times over. With that said, I couldn't disagree more with your method of doing so. The materials, food, and workers should come from wherever it exists at the cheapest...

Are the claims of the USA government generally tell manipulative lies?

And I think you're conflating government (which is mostly comprised of nonpartisan civil servants) with politics. Although the exact criteria change slightly from year to year, it's been fairly standard for a long time that food and energy are excluded, and most everything else is included...

Are the claims of the USA government generally tell manipulative lies?

That's fine...the statistics aren't intended for consumption by the average family anyway. The average family can draw its own conclusions about whether inflation is too high based on their own experience, and they can assign blame as they see fit. We'll never eliminate random external factors...

Are the claims of the USA government generally tell manipulative lies?

Because the whole purpose of collecting economic statistics is to use them to inform policy decisions. The policy solutions for dealing with high CORE inflation (e.g. raising interest rates and/or reducing the deficit) are completely different than the policy solutions for dealing with high FOOD...

Should women be allowed custody? [W:124]

Hypothesis: 100% of the people in this thread who support this kind of retributive approach to child custody are embittered men who have been divorced because of adultery.

    Criminalize racist and bigoted words?

Agreed. As I see it, it isn't even so much the racism as the "don't be a dick to other students" aspect of it.

    Kids n' Kondoms

I think that every parent wants to believe that his/her own children are the exception to the rule, and that if only the parent does a good job and teaches their kid the right values, that they'll overcome the laws of biology...but I'm sorry, the facts and statistics suggest otherwise. About...
