This is the saddest song ever

The first tune that came to mind for me was Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton, written about the death of his son. Very sad, esp. in context. The one that really gets to me is a song on the Robert Cray album "I was warned" called He don't live here anymore I still remember The day I went home...

Okay, I'm trying to remember just how engaged I am to my lovely fiance and not think about how Charlotte is only a few miles away...married, though. Oh, well, guess I missed the boat. :doh Congrats on the baby, hope everything works out wonderful.

If I had the money, I would...

If I had the money, I would take a year off from work, get everything set up for it, and hike the Appalachian trail. Oh, forgot, I'm engaged now. Man...

    Who is your political idol?

I'm going with Reagan. For rebuilding our nation in both spirit and economics. And winning a war against the most powerful enemy a country has ever had to face without firing a shot. And all the while, It was all on him and his vision, not any advisors or political pressure from opponents.

    What upcoming movies...

The movie with Johnny Knoxville pretending to be a special person to make $$ in the special olympics looks like the most unapologetically vile, low-brow release from Hollywood in a while. Can't wait to see it  And I'm going to see Kong either today or tomorrow, so I guess I'm still...

Is a Completely Secular Government Really so Bad?

I live in a country with a government representative of the people that elect that government. If a politician does not represent the will of a majority, that politicial will not be elected. The same politicians that nominate and approve of judges, as an added note. The Constitution is a secular...

Is a Completely Secular Government Really so Bad?

I already posted what I think about that in another thread http://www.debatepolitics.com/showpost.php?p=164626&postcount=30 And for the last time I plan on mentioning it, you can't remove every reference to god from our society or the government formed by the people of our society. Its not...

    Brokeback Mountain

Some people believe everyone needs to go to services on Sunday. You won't see me there either. I guess everyone doesn't need to be there to know they don't like it ;)

    I have a new Avatar

The "when" of it is an issue I have trouble with. Just like it is obvious that a bolt is not the same thing as an entire car, a newly divided cell is not a person. But that being said, what will that cell become if left to determine its own future? A child. So as much as it can be a confusing...

Is a Completely Secular Government Really so Bad?

If you're going to equate abolishing slavery with removing mentions of God, some people around here aren't going to like you very much :( I am not so sure that the people of this country want every mention of god in the public square consigned to the dustbin of history. Ours is a Constitution...

    I have a new Avatar

Certainty is diametrically opposed to desperation. I can look at a baby and say for 100% certainty that that is a baby. I don't have to come up with words to refer to that baby as anything but what it is to make myself feel better about condoning someone killing the child. Now that kind of guilt...
