Trump vows massive new tariffs if elected, risking global economic war

The problem is combining two things with different sources, different effects and different ways of fixing them under one umbrella. So I think what you said is a popular position but misleading.

Core Inflation Below the 2 Percent Target

Just the ticket for people who are not retired and who don't save money.

Why Im not a Republican ( and other tales of futility)

I disagree. What we need to break up is federal government. Let's go back to the union of states the founders had in mind. It was a solid approach.

Trump vows massive new tariffs if elected, risking global economic war

I disagree. I think prices and money supply expansion need to be treated differently. They have different causes, different results and different approaches to correct them. I firmly believe that combining them is misleading. I'm not too thrilled by the current state of economics, as you can...

Core Inflation Below the 2 Percent Target

No I was talking about the classic definition of inflation which has been corrupted over the decades. It has nothing to do with personal income per capita.

Trump vows massive new tariffs if elected, risking global economic war

Politics is humanity at its worst. War is pretty bad too but at least you know what your enemy wants. It wants to kill you and break your stuff. With politics, you never know.

Core Inflation Below the 2 Percent Target

Thanks for the opinions. Yes CPI has nothing to do with inflation. Inflation is reduction in the value of the currency caused by expanding the money supply. Prices are determined by supply and demand. Inflation only causes us to have to use more dollars to buy things because the money is...

Trump vows massive new tariffs if elected, risking global economic war

That's not true. I do agree that trade wars are bad but they hurt some worse than others. The advantage to tariffs, above everything, is that they motivate domestic production in place of imports. That, Hamish, is a serious economic benefit.
