We are part of a group that started in 2000 on the CNN boards, went to the NYT boards, then migrated to various other sites as they closed. We ended up at USMB. We lost most of the liberal members who posted substance. We were left with the flamers, one of whom had a personal fixation on me, and he posted Google Earth of my block. Then our two best posters were banned for responding to the flames. We decided to find another place where hopefully the flamers won't follow.
So far here the debate is substantive and not personal. One thing we are trying to get used to is that on our other boards we had a generic topic (It was Making American Great) and we were able to be more broad in what we posted. Some of our members would like to be able to throw personal insults, but I'm tired of that.
