Current COVID-19 Cases, Deaths by State

It is interesting. I've looked at it pretty much every day since I found out about it last year or so. FL & Tx in competition it seems.

Yup, the morons have forced me to once again wear a mask because they won't. Thanks all you true american patriots.

DeSantis is doing a helluva job.

Interesting how the usual crowd leaves out blue state, CA., who is vying for third place; cases and deaths.

Yes it is amazing what going out of State to make speeches will do for our infection rate. Say no to restrictions and YES to more infections and deaths is his message.

Show on the road: In Utah, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis rails against 'Faucian dystopia'

'...No to lockdowns, no to school closures, no to restrictions'

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis fired up the first day of a gathering of conservative lawmakers in Salt Lake City Wednesday, issuing a call against new federal mask guidelines.
The governor first joked that the estimated 450 maskless legislators and lobbyists gathered in a ballroom for an American Legislative Exchange Conference apparently did not get the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention memo.
DeSantis then drew a line in the sand against government-imposed restrictions to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus and its variants.

“I think it’s very important that we say, unequivocally, no to lockdowns, no to school closures, no to restrictions and no (to) mandates,” DeSantis said to applause and cheers.

They are the most populated State by a mile and their cases/deaths per million are lower that most red States.

Yes, as we all know when you factor in population it's New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts that really failed their citizens.

Florida has more cases/million than NY. NJ, or Mass. Florida has 121,725/mill while California has 100,128/mill. California also has fewer deaths/mill than Florida 1,630/mill vs 1,814/mill. When you break it all down Florida has done the worst. NY had more deaths because they got blindsided in the beginning and had 20% of NYC infected with covid in weeks before we were even told it was here. But since then they have performed far better than Florida at minimizing infection and have a lower infection/mill number. Florida was pretty lucky at first it and started slower here but we caught right up and passed NY in infections.

The states that have done the worst are those that have the highest rates of deaths. Those are New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts.

Florida is 26th and below the national average for deaths. Not bad given that they have a much larger "at risk" population than just about every other state.

LOL Florida's 39,000 covid dead puts it in 4th place in number of deaths and counting. I expect the numbers will change in the next month.
Then we have this.....

Institute Estimates 40% More Florida COVID Deaths Than State Data

More than 51,100 Floridians have died from COVID-19 in Florida, according to estimates from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation.
The prominent research institution, based out of the University of Washington, produces COVID-19 models that have been closely watched by health officials around the country throughout the pandemic.
This month the IHME updated its projections to reflect its own calculations of COVID-19 deaths, rather than figures reported by states and countries.

It’s estimate for Florida is about 40% higher than the nearly 37,000 deaths reported by the Florida Department of Health as of Wednesday.
