According to Johns Hopkins University and CDC data, states reporting the lowest rates of coronavirus cases also have some of the highest rates of vaccination

The good news is that new coronavirus cases are dropping, on average, nationwide, but the bad news is that eight U.S. states have seen an increase of positive COVID-19 test results — and Utah is one of them.

According to Johns Hopkins University data, the Beehive State, along with Alabama, Arkansas, Hawaii, Missouri, Nevada, Texas and Wyoming, have reported a hike in their seven-day average of coronavirus cases, The Associated Press reported Sunday.

  • Seven of those states — minus Hawaii, where 55% of the population is vaccinated — have vaccination rates below the national average of 43.7%, according to the AP, citing data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
  • The states with the lowest average number of pandemic cases have a higher than average percent of their populations vaccinated, reported the AP.

Red states. MS is in that mix also. Didn't someone on the national level say it was a hoax & it was all under control? I don't think having someone primarily concerned about his poll numbers making reassuring statements about a looming public health crisis that he doesn't understand is a good idea.

It is under control. These rises are from very low levels and vary from state to state, week to week. There is a vaccine. If you are frightened of the virus, get vaccinated. Those who arent, wont.

No excuse for this, no excuse at all.

These states have all the advantages to keep Covid at bay. It is now late spring and people are outside, they do not have dense populations.
This is totally there own doing.

Problem is, by their negligence they keep the Covid infection rate more than it would be in responsible states too.

These people, Trumpists, are a very serious problem. On all fronts.

They may go even higher, as other variants become more predominent.

Nobody relevant ever said the disease was a hoax.

This started out to be an informative thread until you decided to make it political.

The more the virus thrives from person to person the more the likliehood of the development of very nasty variants that could be a threat to us all.

Your Trump buddies said so. And Trump said....only 15 cases, it will be over in weeks.

It is political because the right wing continues to spread stupid shit about it and they are the ignorant SOB's not getting vaccinated.

Ignorant morons always make life worse for everyone....

MYOB comes to mind. If you’re scared of Covid, get the vaccine.

As you believe this is a public health emergency Do you think that people be forced to be vaccinated?

And if they refuse, what should be the response from law enforcement?

Ok Trump is gone so moving on and living in the post Trump world, I will also ask you this question: If vaccination is the answer to what you consider a public health crisis, should people be forced to be vaccinated?

And if they refuse what should be the response of law enforcement?

Such is the crux of American culture.

Some people, such as health care workers and those who work in senior living facilities, definitely should be required to get vaccinated. The only exceptions should be if the individual has a legitimate medical condition that prevents vaccination (e.g. known allergy to vaccine ingredients).

Unfortunately, since a high percentage of Americans are basically being insane about not getting the vaccine, other mandates are unlikely to work well.

Enforced quarantine if exposed to Covid 19.

Things are starting to level off in many other states. They just cancelled the Arizona State Poker Championship amongst other events that have been cancelled. This goober state is only 48% vaccinated and still has a 5% positivity rate. I talked to people at the casino who said they would have expanded the number of tables if the numbers were down and more people were vaccinated.

Black people and Trump supporters better get their shot or deal with some nasty consequences.

God damned Hawaii. Can't they be nice and blue and safe like South Dakota!

Lots of Trumpers in Hawaii, I'm told.

I'm waiting for Hawaii to reach 70% so that vaccinated normal people can go there without taking a test before travel.
